Hi,


I race MT and usually the wheels have 2 small holes on the inside part of it ...

Now im starting to race Buggy 1/8 and im mounting (finally !!) my Jammin FTE, and the wheels does not have any hole so, do i need to make those ?, some guy told me its better to not make the holes on the wheel, but on the tire itself, 2 holes just between the pins on the middle of the tire, one hole opossity side than the other ...

For 1/8 or just about any outdoor off road application you want to vent the tire, not the rim. This allows any water or dirt to sling out of the tire under centrifugal force. Having vent holes in the rim does exactly the opposite and packs the foam with dirt.

This always seems to be a topic of hot debate. I think it is more a debate of theory than anything else. I clean my tires after each round, so I don't vent the tire because it gets the foams wet and they don't dry very easily. I personally have never had an offroad tire last long enough for a significant amount of dirt to enter the wheel through the vent holes on the rim. I vote to vent the rim.

holes in the tire hands down, in the rim they pack the foam with dirt. If you run 2 races you can feel dirt in the foam if the holes are in the rim

It really depends on what kind of dirt your are running on, and if you like to wash your tires after every run. If you're running on a loamy track and you don't wash your tiresvery often or ever, vent the tires. If you run on hardpacked dirt and wash the tires every run, you might be better off venting the wheels.

Whatever you decide, be sure you vent before gluing the tires up. It makes gluing much easier to do.
