Default HPI Nitro RS4 MT

Just picked up a used Nitro RS4 MT. What would be a good choice for engine replacement when the time comes? The Nitro Star .15 it comes with is decent but lacks more advanced adjustments. This is going to be my "beat it to hell" truck so nothing very pricey or "pro" Thanks!

Are you after .15 again? Pull start or bump start?

You might look at the hpi .18SS its a direct replacment for the MT2. Has a lot more kick too. I put a 2.5 in mine, now it just does doughnuts. So you can have too much motor.
He who sits here has wrecked everything known to man.

HPI Savage 4.6 SS
Traxxas nitro 4-tec 3.3
Traxxas T-maxx 3.3
Duratrax Evader ( Junk. Don't buy one )
Losi Micro-T

A friend of mine has one with a O.S. .18 cv-r and it hauls A**. He can keep up with our 8th scale buggies. Just so you know I run a Kanai II with a modded P5.
Swap the diff internals for the gears that come with the HPI rs4 evo and you're all set.

Yes, the O.S. .18 CV-R is an awesome replacement. They can be bought for just over 100.00 and hold a tune. I've had several O.S. engines and they are very dependable. Couple it with a CVEC and it's insane.

Here's my MT Racer with some road rages on it. We were doing some high speed road passes to see how fast it would really go. It's the lightest and fastest single speed (still haven't installed the two speed) 1/10th scale car/truck I've owned. And this was before I got the throttle fixed. The stock setup never opened the throttle fully.

Spring is here and will be hopefully trying it this weekend. Just be prepared to pay for broken parts. I may have to look into brake upgrades.

You're not having fun until you break it.

Exchange the .15fe for an outlaw18 and get the rotostart. HPI offers engine exchange and it will only cost you $99. That 18 is fast as all heck. Just put it in mine and that thing flies. Also got a 2 speed and reverse from towerhobbies. Just need a new radio for it. Go for the 18, you will need to get the engine mount for it also, but it's a direct replacement for the 15, has loads more power and gives the MT a punch in the nuts. The flywheel, clutch etc.. will bolt right on to the new engine also. Hope this helps.
