Ideal Rustler Modified Motor
I've had this Rustler laying around forever and just decided I wanted to fix it up. I bought an LRP ESC with no motor limit and now I just need a motor to make it fast. At first I wanted to get a 6T D6 motor but then I read that you guys think a motor with that low of turns will be overkill and wont last long at all. I'm looking for overkill, but not something that is gonna last a week. If you guys were in my situation what would you get? Please let me know how long you think your suggestions will last. Thanks

A Team Checkpoint motor would also be a good investment. Something around 12T would be about right. These last 40 to 50 runs before needing new brushes and comm cut. Also, do everything you can to lighten the truck.

go with like a orion revolution 13x2 but i wouldnt go any lower than a 10x1 that would totally rip apart the tranny and another thing make sure you gear it properly or you could just burn up the motor and brushless eh then u would have to get a new speedo and all good luck

I would recommend:
Bashing: Trinity Speedgem Pro- 15-19T (less wear on comm, less rebuilds)
Racing: Trinity Shock, Cobalt or Cobalt 2- 10-14T (depending on track surface, track layout)
Good luck!!

If your bashing or your local allows brushless I'd get a brushless, you won't have to maintain that at all, except spray it out with motor spray every once in a while. Maybe a Novak Velocity 6.5 or 7.5 system. If you want to go brushed then I don't think you can beat the Checkpoint motors, you really can get around 25 runs with them before you see any drop off, and if it is like my checkpoint a little drop of is'nt a bad thing if you know what I mean
