so im lookin for a two day job then lol... i didnt know considerin it only took 2hrs for the touring car. Wich tires should i run with the truck also what all come with it? do i get a battery pack and some wheels?

ya, if you are working on the weekend or late into the night. remember, 1/8 are larger than TCs, thus requiring more parts/screws which equals more building time. i easily took 12 hours on my first buggy.

from what i have been hearing and what i am gonna start out with is:

10k front
20k center
2-4k rear

also have been told either 50wt all the way around for shocks or 50frt/60rr or 60frt/70rear.. white springs in front, blue in rear.

When building the kit the manual instructs you to shim the diffs. Does anyone have a procedure on shimming the diffs? How do I know when they are shimmed properly?

Also while building the diffs I used the 4 shims behind the spider gears as instructed. After assembling the diffs they seemed a little notchy when turning the outdrives in opposite directions. Do they just need to be run and broken in? I dont remember my sp2 being like this.

In general, all diffs should be shimmed slightly tight for the first run...they will loosen up.

what tires are most of you guys using? also is there a website for truggy talk only or something more about nitro off road racing? also with that factory springs out of the box will it be fast and smooth on a low bite track and pretty ruff?

macnkitty. why are bow ties more appealing over the crimefighters. i heard the crime fighters have more side bite? i am new to 1/8 and or truggies as i now have purchased a st-r and starting to build.

i was thinking of gettng the crime fighters and bow ties, but the tread looks similar except the crime fighter has a different sidewall, which i am told rolls over more to gain more sidebite.

please help out as i am a electric guy tryign to cross over to nitro

I have the CrimeFighters, Narrow Bowtie MT's and C-compound (Clay) Boas in my tire arsenal this year. I also have some custom made tire/rim combos from last year (Standard CrimeFighters on narrowed 40 rims, Standard Bowties on narrowed 40 rims and Traxxas Response tires on narrowed 40 rims...all 23mm).

If you run indoors on clay, I'd definitely get the C-Boas. If you run outdoors on hard pack, I'd go with the narrow Bowties, CrimeFighters or medium-soft Boas.
