Torque/Speed question

We have 3 T3s. One of them has a Fantom "Factory Modifieds" motor, timed +18, geared 18/87, and a LRP Runner ESC. It seems slow off the line, but seemsto fly on top end. Everything is the way we bought it, we havent tinkered with it. The motor, ESC and, batteries get a bit hotter than the other 2 T3s we have, 1 geared the same, but with different motor.

Is this the "nature" of this motor, or is it a timing/ESC setting issue?

Any mod motor is going to get hot.

Try going down a tooth on the pinion for some more bottom end. Did you time the motor? You did turn the endbell counterclockwise with it facing you right? If not you set it opposite of advanced and that will make it feel doggy also. Check your rear hub carrier bearings to make sure one isn't going bad as well. That will cause drag/heat.

""Any mod motor is going to get hot.""
I have a Core Modified with the same gearing that doesnt get near as hot.

We dont have any other gears right now. I didnt time the motor, thats the way we got it. Im reading the timing by the marks on the can.

I think I may swap motors and see what MY truck will do with the Fantom.

Thanks

Diffrent motors liek diffrent gearing bro.You want your motor to get warm.If its cold it not being used to its full power. Are you sure your reading the marks right?

Re-time it and make sure your gearing is wright. Also cheak the brushes and the comm, it may need to be trued.Clean it real good and cheak the drive train. If all is good it should run like a champ.

Git R Done! :tire:
