Hey guys, I just bought a mbx5 prospec. I need to buy some servos for the buggy. I want digital servos so what speed/torq would you recomend for the stearing/throttle. Thanks

I use futabe 9351 for steering and futaba 9451 for throttle/break... they work great and last a long time.

Ouch, one of those servos is a spendy little bugger, I run a Hitec 5645mg for stearing in my revo and it is just right. I was thinking for a buggy you would not need such a hi-torq stearing. Anybody else have some sugestions?

Wow, thats alot of beans for some servo's, I have just dropped about $1200 in the last few days on rc stuff, any cheaper options? If you could tell me what torq rating should I start with for steering and throttle, speed wise i will figure that out.

Digital servos are usually about $70 and up, so if you want a decent digital servo, I'd look at the Hitec offerings. Something like a HS-5645MG will be sufficient. Just don't expect them to perform as good as the Futaba S9351 or the $100+ units. To be honest, you will not really notice much difference anyways, since we are talking maybe hundredths of a second difference in response time.

Couple other options would be Airtronics:

94358, Steering, 180oz.
94357, Throttle, 100oz.

Their not digital but they are extremely powerful, fast and reliable. Also about $30 bucks cheaper each.

I have a 5645 in my revo. What is the min torq for stearing and throttle for a buggy?

I run the Airtronics Analog servos in my MBX5

94358: .10sec/200oz - steering (94359 has brass fail-safe gear and heat-sink case)

94357: .07sec/125oz - throttle/brakes (94360 has brass fail-safe gear and heat-sink case)

Most guys just run the 94358 on both as the extra torque helps with braking and the speed of the 94358 is fast enough.

If you buy the Hitec digital servos, get the new Titanium series. They're much better than the older digital servos. I'd suggest the 5997 for both steering and T/B. It rates at .14sec/183oz. BUT, even though the numbers look slower than the 94358 Airtronics, it is actually just as fast (different manufacturer's so how one rates their speed to another is a mute point).

The Futaba digitals are really nice and the new JR and KO digital look real good too.

Thanks guys, after all the money I just spent, there was not enoff to buy the servos you are all recomending, so I am settleing on these:

A guy on the for sale forum was selling some, I am picking them both up for 95 bucks shipped. I hope they will work.
