Default What would you do?

Hey guys! Been out of the hobby for about 3.5 years but I got the itch bad. So Im looking to get back to racing.

The only rig I currently have is a SCTE 1.0. I feel like I might have missed my window to do anything with this. I seen some old threads about converting it to a 2.0. Also seen some threads about converting it to an 1/8th scale buggy....this had me interested.

I want to get back into racing and I don't have the money for a new rig right now so Its going to have to be with this 1.0. Im a little worried about parts for it. Basically just looking for a little insight.

What do you guys think?

You could probably pick up a mint 2.0 for reasonable money as TLR is now up to the 3.0 generation of this truck and use your 1.0 for spares.....arms,etc are mostly the same. The 2.0 is a huge improvement over the 1.0 and would be more economical than trying to upgrade your 1.0.
I have taken out our local points championship with a 2.0 against Durangos and a Tekno and there is still one round to go......so the 2.0 is a very capable and great handling rig and I have very few upgrades on it too

Have been considering that as well because most Ive seen have said the 2.0 is such a big improvement.

I wouldn't hesitate running a 1.0 they are plenty competitive... I'm still running a SCT410.1 and it holds its own at my local club... chances are you may need to knock the rust off anyway... I'd take my time and save up while improving skills in the mean time.

Too bad MIP discontinued the Pro4mance kit for it. If you can find one, I'd do it

I had issues getting the 1.0 to handle well. My solution was to get a Troy Lee ARR chassis plate and tekno center driveshafts. I also rebuilt all 3 diffs with the upgraded HD housings. That's 90% of a 2.0 for less than 100 bucks. Difference was night and day. Of course I ended up throwing a TLR kit on it and a bunch of other stuff after the fact

Ok question then......what about the scbe chassis? Is that the same as the troy lee? Because less than 100 bucks is right up my alley right now lol

I still have 2 1.0 SCTE's that hold their own just fine. I do plan to convert one over to a MIP superlight buggy (just found the kit i ordered yrs ago.) The King Headz chassis is still available for the 1.0 and works great

Ya, everyone wants the latest/greatest, which caused the demise of the kit. But the MIP 1.0 will still run with the 3.0. Kinda sad that it was discontinued. There are still a lot of 1.0's out there that could use a little love
