If you guys go over to rc crawler.com there is a massive 20 some page discussion on the scx10 2. I love the truck and will probably get one before the winter as a birthday present to myself. It looks pretty awesome and I love the fact that it's a kit.

It's a bit of a let down for me.

Stupidly large and heavy transmission and transfer out of the yeti mounted further back and higher than ever before is some sort of joke.

The new axles look alright, with smaller helical cut gears and high pinion. Shame it doesn't use ar60 style splined chubs for adjustable caster.

Cms is pretty meh, it's detrimental for performance so no good for c2, and even the shortest wheelbase is considered a bit long for c1.

On the plus, all metal links and cv's stock is great for newbies that want to just buy it and drive.

Um apparently you didn't even look at their website to see that the axles are splined to adjust caster in 10 degree increments. cms is used for a more scale look like a real truck would have. The transmission isn't out of the yeti as the scx10 and yeti use different transmissions. Also if you aren't happy with the new truck it is backwards compatible with the scx10 1 and you can build it however you want. I'm not a newbie to rc I like to upgrade most of my vehicles but scalers I like to run stock until something breaks.

I never said they werent splined, I said they weren't ar60 style splined, meaning without beef tubes for example you still cant use wraith style chubs and knuckles

Thats great for c1, where I do use cms. Its bad for everything else, as it never performs as well as axle mounted servo due to the bump steer it causes.

ok, if you want to be pedantic its not exactly the same, some very subtle differences and higher reduction gearing, but its essentially the same. The problem is its god awful huge, and the transfer case is attached to the transmission, rendering it essentially worthless. If they had a front motor mount to a centre transfer case, like a tf2 for example, it would be fantastic.

My c1 crawler doesn't have a great deal in the way of upgrades, but my scx10 based c2 does, as it needs to perform well. Its more aftermarket than stock, hence why I never bothered to start with a kit as it would be pointless throwing most of it away.

I think the worst thing about it is the hCG and the added weight in that area. But other than that I'm looking forward to it. But will it be an RTR or will they offer a kit version?

It's a kit. There are plenty of them out in the wild now.

About time they did it the right way. Definitely on my list of like to gets. Will have to finish my scx10 axle ,yeti trans and Kyosho chassis build first though.

Yeah, I still don't see at all how axial have "copied the ascender rather than r&d"

Can you explain your reasoning more precisely?

The axles are totally different.

The transmission/transfer case is totally different.

The chassis is totally different.

battery tray is totally different.

Or do you simply mean the fact that they both come with a chassis mounted servo standard and have a large boxy body with fully width front and rear bumpers?

Axial is a leader in this industry not a follower.
