I would invest in diff skids. Aluminun links. And brushless is the only way to go. I prefer 2s lipo so I run 13.5t ish.my last build is a12.5t.and id ditch the shocks as well. I've noticed the stock Axials leak and fast. I'd run the stocks till the problem starts .

If you're going to run brushless you may want to consider a SuperShafty input shaft and a steel Robinson Gen 3 32P spur conversion. Also the dig option is fun. Under drive gears in the rear will help with turning radius and climbing.

So many different ways to build an scx. Read lots before doing anything if its your first. Trans is tough stock but if you'll put some power through it. Robinson steel outout gear and shaft with their steel idler also is a must. You can use traxxas 32p spur to stay plastic and tough. Also won't have to listen to that terrible metal on metal pinion eating noise. I like an overdrive front to help steering but underdrive rear is pretty much the same and easier to change out.
