Default Best Tires for Axial Wraith

I'm in the process of making some upgrades to my Wraith Poison Spyder and looking at changing to a grippier, taller tire than the stock BF Goodrich scale tires.

90% of my wraith running is along trails, dirt, mud, and rocks. I'm running a 27tooth brushed motor on 2S, so this thing isn't fast, it's just built for torque and crawling power.

A friend I run with switched to MT Baha's and the added height and grippier compound really shows! He's going places I can't consider.

So looking for suggestions on a good tire to switch to.

Default Tires

I have baja claws. They work great. Also have rock beasts. Both are good.

I agree that the ProLines are the best all around tire.

Had my first run today with the Pitbull 2's, and holy Hannah! What an improvement over the stock R40 BF Goodrich tires!

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I have to agree I've had a bunch of tires, and what works the best for us here in AZ for loose rock and hard packed rocks with dirt tend to be the pit bull rock beasts. Best tire for the money, but the crawler innovation foams seems to be the best foam for that tire. It's takes a few trips to wear them in though.

I've been happy with my Axial R35 Ripsaws. The tread pattern is more aggressive than the TSL Super Swampers, but most people think the R35 Ripsaws are garbage because they "don't look scale" and they aren't licensed from a "real tire company". Even when the tires are wet and dirty (which is as often as possible, because it's a rock/trail truck), when it can't clear an obstacle it's almost always a weight-balance or high-centering problem, instead of a traction problem. Which is to say it almost always gets stuck or flips over instead of digging for traction.

I also use the stock foams. I tried Pro-Line's memory foams and they were WAY too soft. I have Crawler Innovations Double-Deuce foams in my Yeti, but for my Wraith I want maximum compliance on rock edges without feeling mushy on smooth ground. The stock foams are actually pretty good in that respect.

I'm very happy with pitbull rockbeast xor's with 5.5" ci dual stage medium foams

Also like rc4wd rok lox when I feel like running a narrow tire. Have cut off every alternating middle lug and they work pretty well.

Have tried rc4wd x-locks too, but they are only really good on dry rock, pretty average anywhere else.

I've got some ripsaws too, but found them to be pretty rubbish with stock foams or pitbull dos piezas foams.

It's funny, I have those same wheels on my MERV -- except they're the original DE Racing version, without the SLW hubs. Nice light wheels, dunno if I'd trust them for bashing on rocks though.

Is the fastback roof a custom mod or is there a kit for it?

They aren't De racing, they are crawler innovation 6 bolt 1.5" wheels. They do look pretty similar to Trinidads though. Hold up just fine to 10.5t 3s punishment.

Fastback mod is a diy, using the stock plastic links.

I know they're not DE Racing. DE Racing discontinued the Trinidads in that size; I had to hurry up and buy a bunch for my MERV before I couldn't find them anymore. It seems Crawler Innovations either bought the design or started paying the factory to make the Trinidads with C.I.'s spec.

de racing still list trinidads as in stock in both merv offset and a various range of 2.2 truck offsets.
