This is when it was box stock...

Default here are pics of mine

I got my AX10 through a trade on craigslist for some old car audio subs i had. It was built completely wrong so i stripped it down and rebuilt it the right way and also made some custom parts out of the stock parts. i also did the ckrc stage 2 upgrade seen on rccrawlers.com moving the shocks out the lower links in and the upper links back with 70mm axial posts. also flipped the rear blocks for more clearance, and used countersunk screws up front for more steering angle. i get about 45 degrees of steering and about 85 degrees of articulation which im planning on limiting
-custom on axle servo
-custom lipo saddle pack trays
-custom esc tray mounted low in front of transmission about 1/4 in above driveshaft
-venom driveshaft retainers
-axial 30 degree bent links
-front droop suspension using venom internal springs
-60wt shock oil all the way around
-JR Z9000S ultra high speed mg steering servo (awesome)
-Futaba M230C esc with novak smart stop (plans for mamba max pro)
-Venom 4200mAh 30C 7.4v Lipo saddle pack with hard case
-Spektrum DX2S with Telemetry hooked up in truck, reads rpm, esc temp, and rx voltage
-Integy 55t crawler motor (plans for novak ballistic 18.5 crawler)

To 'convert' to lipo you will need a lipo compatable speedy ( Means it has a good voltage cut-off so it dosen't drain the battery below safe limits ).
They usualy say if it will handel a lipo or not.
A charger that has a lipo charge program and the lipo battery.

Cost can be fairly low to nutty high. Just depends on the gear you get.

Try a speed passion or hobbywing crawler setup.

Castle creations mamba max or sidewinder is a great esc. I have also ran a rooster crawler. If you are cool buying used you can find the sidewinder and the rooster for about 50.00.
Lipo batteries range all over the board from 15-75.00 for crawler size. My local shop has 3cell 1600mah for 32.00 and I have had no issues.
Lipo chargers are the same as batteries. I have a dynamite dc vision(45.00).
and it has been a perfect one for me. The only regret I have is that it don't have a balancing feature(I guess Thats something important for lipos)
I would say 150.00 will get you into an entry level lipo setup and you can go up from there. That's my .10 worth, good luck!

you can get very good turnigy lipo's on hobbyking.com for about $10,
i would say if your gonna go, go all the way that way you won't have to spend money in the future to upgrade again! Mamba Max Pro ESC is the way to go!!
then get either a HolmesHobbies 7Turn cobalt puller, or a novak 18.5 brushless sensored crawler motor be sure that your first upgrade is a servo!!

Talking Aussie AX-10

Her's a couple of pics of my AX-10 in it's current incarnation.

First upgrade was a Speedpassion crawler system.
2nd was 3racing driveshafts after the stock ones got all twisted up. lol
3racing bent links.
3racing Shocks. ( work a treat too )
Decent hiTorque servo. 4 wheel steering to come soon I hope.
She runs on either 2 1050mA 2 cell lipos in saddelpack configeration
or a 3 cell lipo pack.

Rock on
