Figured that the drifting thread is getting pounded with all kinds of other stuff, so I figured maybe we could move all the non drifting, or other non forum specific stuff to a BS forum. Anyway, I just finished my Hellfire body for the Ofna X1 CRT. My first attempt at painting carbon fiber with a rattle can. It's a little rough, but I'm sure this body won't last long anyway...

what technique did you use to get the carbon fiber pattern? Looks good for your first attempt...
I used cabinet liners, but I couldn't get the liner to lay flat on the inside surface of the body, so it's a bit sloppy. I laid down a super light coat of metallic black first, then put the cabinet liner down and sprayed a coat of green, then took the liner off and backed it again with black. Next time, I think I will try to actually get the liner in there when the paint is still a little wet so it will stick. The places on the paint that the liner would stick on should be black anyway, so I don't think it would mess anything up.

I put the screen on the driver's side window, then I thought ...HMMMM, this is going to be tough to fill and tune. That is why there are two cut outs in the screen. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with it.

Good first attempt. Since your using rattle can I would recommend using a real light TRANSLUCENT black first possibly the rattle can window tint. After the translucent black put down the shelf liner and use a nice metallic silver and than back it with an opaque black. These are the steps I used on the Blue Supra but with an airbrush, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to to rattle can it though. Also make sure you cut the shelf liner just barely over lapping your masked are so there is less to move on you. I practiced on a 2 liter soda bottles cut in half and that really helped me figure it out. Hope this helps.
And one last trick, I use rubber gloves when I paint so I can hold the liner down and spray the crap out of my hands with out having to worry about going to work with black nail polish.
