Default Self Proclaimed Thread Police-So many of them now!

Why is Rctech being swarmed with so-called Thread Police.
People who think they just critique a sale thread or a helpful post, etc...

When I grew up this would equate to a SNITCH or Busybody...always in someone's business.

This is becoming a norm within Rctech

Why is this being allowed.

I was given an infraction because of some self proclaimed Thread Police.....
never had a problem on Rctech before.in all the years I've used it.....

something needs to change or they will start to loose users and advertising dollars....

Moderators don't follow their own stuff.
Forum rules

One of the rules to be followed:

Are the moderators checking the so-called thread Police to see if they breaking the rules?????

Is it really that big of a deal if I see someone with 1 post trying to sell something in the electric on road section and then point them in the direction of the FS section? I think thats being helpful.

How many "bumps" do you get to push your sale back to the top?
I don't say anything when people are selling "things" that are waaay over
priced or way under priced..I want to but I don't..

The thread that was started by that moderator was deleted just like everyone elses.

The rules are made for everyone to follow.

If you dont want to follow the rules then you will get an infraction, plain and simple, if the infractions continues then is still plain and simple, you will get bannned

any questions??

yes QUESTION
all these so-called thread police. (non-moderators).

Why are these people not being reviewed and given infractions?
Why do good RCtechers have to deal with BS every time.

If someone has a problem then PM that person....don't go blowing someone threads and/or discussions.
this is happening way too often.

Default Great moderator

This is the response I get back from a Moderator - jer7469
I expressed my concern and dis-like of the action in a structured format thru PM and this is the reply.

Quote:
guess what i really dont care what you think.. follow the rules... end of conversation....

you gotta love this type of response

did the person who so-called police (non-moderator) get an infraction? who has posted in quite a few sale threads for no reason and no interest in purchasing something.

Response in duplicate thread:
your pm you sent me has been fowarded to a higher up moderator/police...
Looks like there is even a lack of understanding of what I am trying to say from the moderator. So I will probably be considered to be banned for voicing my thoughts and opinions.

This is not about the moderator!
This is about people who are lurking inside of RCtech acting as self-proclaimed police.
who are making Rctech unfriendly.....policing threads by making comments....etc....

plain and simple:
RCtech is based from users, correct? which in turn lets Rctech get advertising dollars to display to said user, correct?
loose your user base and lose the advertising dollars then lose the site......what retention user rate does Rctech aim for?

Im not going back and forth with you on this, follow the rules plain and simple, and also rctech does not make any money from the for sale section, but now that you mention it maybe rctech should charge a transaction fee just like ebay does, so everytime you list something for sale on rctech you pay a fee plus a % of the asking price. Thats a very good suggestion thanks for your input i will pass that along to the admins and IB.

I can see some of your views about the proclaimed thread police, I guess there are many members that report threads that they feel are in violation , i get over 30 per day some of them are borderline and i let them slide some do get an infraction. With out the help of other members reporting threads It will be impossible for us to catch everything.

Default thumbs up

MarcoJ.
I have to give you thumbs up...
as a moderator you perform well..
you get your point across in a neutral and direct manner.

on the other hand Jer7469 should not be a moderator..
lack of communication skill, lacking and possibly not neutral.

and yes RCtech should be charging for use of the Sale Thread.
this topic has come up before and I have been 100% in favor of charging nominal Sale Fees..
I would wager the Sale thread section of Rctech probably receives 50-60% of the movement within Rctech.

I think it would be hard to charge people cash for not following the rules. I spend a ton of time on here, in a few sub forums, and selling and buying in the classifieds. I used to do the same thing on a airsoft forum that I frequented alot. They started to charge per month, or anually, if you wanted to use the for sale section. The FS section took a 50% hit and alot of people just refused to use it. I have not bought or sold on there since, however it is quite reasonable. 4.95 for two months of FS section admission.

I could see RCTech making a HUGE profit considering how much the FS section is used. I dont think its worth the loss of people though. We all use and know this site and its classifieds since it is free. However, rules need to be enforced. I have gone too far and even posted the rules in someones thread which I felt bad for, but he was bumping every time his thread was 20 posts down. More than a few times an hour. I see this alot, and a simple report button I think will make the mods life alot easier.

Edit made it friendly....

Perhaps a better way to bring up revenue and keep "Free for all comments" and so-called thread police Users at bay
Would be to charge by the post count......hmmmm.....that's an idea.....
how about $100 for every 1000 post.
