I don't know about CA but in most states in addition to the ticket fine you also have a court fee. In VA it's 25 so a 20 dollar ticket would run you 45. Then I got a ticket in PA once. In addition to those two fines there were all sorts of other fees. A few bucks for emergency services, a few bucks for this, a few bucks for that. It ended up being around 190.

Man, a GT350?? Ugh, that's painful to just think about(I always wanted a '68 Shelby as a show car, had a '69 coupe for over 10 years, absolutely LOVED that old girl, a real sweetheart). And I agree about the cellphone thing, had a similar experience myself, though I was much luckier. Happened when I was heading to work & was starting to turn left onto the nearest highway(there's a proper traffic light there) & some woman in an Accord was also doing the same going the other way, when some girl in a NEW BMW(that her daddy just bought her) was barrelling down the highway chatting on her cell, & as you might imagine, she never even saw the stoplight(didn't have time to hit her brakes once she saw our two cars), so she SLAMMED into the Accord which then tagged my car in the right rear corner & spun me around. COMEPLETELY trashed the Accord & Bimmer & hurt the woman in the Accord(but fortunately, the damage to me & my car was minimal, just twisted my rear suspension & made me late for work & it was my first day on a new job, too). Luckily for the girl, her insurance agent was her rich daddy, & he made sure EVERYONE was well taken care of(& I will at least give the girl credit for admitting what she did it & shouldn't have been using the cell), but it did make it pretty plain to me that there are too many people who think they can use their phones while driving, & frankly, they're a serious danger to EVERYONE. Since they won't stop, I think big fines & points on their licences are about all we can do for now, but I have no problem with them cracking down on it, there is NO ONE that you need to talk to that bad that you can't wait....

23k will pay for a college education and help out with the poor family thing. you put that much into a car, put something into insurance like classic car insurance or collision and you wont have to worry about some kid hitting your car. motor looks good though. i have an 89 convertable that runs low 11's and can feel your pain. and ckfacktory, how are those wraps coming along?

Oh yeah! There are a few other fees they hit you with!!! i got a speeding tickety once, i cost me i think it was $170 or so. But the speeding fine was only $30-$50 then they add all of the other fees. i was doing 61 in a 45 and it was one of the dumest ideas anyone could have to desgin a road! Lets say you realy have to watch your speed in this area, becouse you can drive 55mph rite up to a turn in the road then its 45 now! Well they had old spidey sitting just past the 45pmh sign. The cop was realy nice about it and decided to write down i was doing 60 instead of 61! 61 = over a $300 fine possbile licnce problems and some other things and 60= $170 or so fine and have a nice day.

I think you should have been fined $500 and your insurance
company should also be notified. Also, if your caught doing
it again, with-in a year, you should loose your lisence for a
year. Please use your head for more than just a hat rack.

This is where technology could help if we insisted loud enough - the auto makers can install a device to block cell calls as long as the car is moving, end of the prob. Make it part of the ECU so it can't easily be messed with. You're not going to solve it with laws or tickets or points. money. Hasn't solved DUI prob yet has it? We kill one every few weeks here due to DUI.

Its now a matter of course in accidents here to ck cell phone records for use at the time of the accident. You are immed guilty and at fault if you're on cell phone even if you really weren't. These things are incredibly dangerous, we get all puckered up over DUI, but allow driving while distracted by clueless morons on the stupid phone.

I don't see anything in life that important to justify putting others at risk by talking on the phone while driving.

CA is horrible about fines... Just make sure you pay that on time, or it can become $1000 real quick...

Isn't this the same guy that was in another thread promoting illigal street racing?

$142 isn't "BS" dude... you being a wreckless danger on the road is BS. Keep it up.

What I recommend, is just DONT pay it. Sit on it for a year and see what happens. They will likely just forget about it.
