I hate taking up for the Yankees, but I have to in this case.

Their payroll was actually about 8 million dollars lower this year than last. They didn't buy the WS.

Most of their best players they farmed or drafted.

If anyone tells anybody I defended the Yanks I'll deny it to my grave.

You are 100% right there! Both sets of fans are fortunate enough to have some of the most winninng championship teams of all time

Anyway you look at, all pro-sports players are overpayed! Especially in this economy.

Was only 8 million lower because of Giambi leaving .
Most of their best players were free agent signings like any team that has the money . Who cares if a team over pays for players if they can do it then do it . If you want to compete in the American league east you better pay some money . Who the hell wants to watch teams like the Pirates or Royals .

Which pro baseball team doesn't spend money on players? The Yankees spend more but they also bring in more money and not only to themselves but to every other team in the league, not to mention the sold out stadiums everywhere they play putting money in the pockets of every owner in the league. Hate them if you want but how many kids grow up saying they want to someday be the captain of the (Haters, insert your favorite team's name here)?

I'm a Sox fan and could care less what the Yankees pay for salaries if you can spend money than spend it so congrats to the Yankees. People should be complaining about teams that spend no money or dump players because their teams aren't going to make the playoffs .
