Well, Brawn is keen to replace Barichello....and well...Barichello just loves to race, so he'll take any seat he can. Although he should retire on a high, instead of a mid-pack Williams.
Back in the day, I would have cursed them for jumping ship. But now, who can blame anyone for jumping ship. Bernie is at war with every track that wont lose money to get F1, the FIA is at war with itself(and the increasing obviousness, that Mad Max really isn't gone out of our lives) and the teams are at war with each other about what style of team(private or manufacturer) should or shouldn't dominate F1.
And while all that is happening, the F1 ship is sailing right toward that iceburg with flags sticking in it saying "engine freeze, fugly cars, no name teams, budget cap, etc..."
Its clear that within' a couple season at most, their all going to be fighting over a sunken ship.
I see the state that F1 is in right now, and I laugh as I think about the debates I had with people here on rctech about whether the direction F1 was taking (more control, less technology, low cost, and less freedom for teams) was the right one.
Funny, I don't see many of the people who thought this crap was a good idea, around anymore. Where are you guys? Probably hiding out somewhere with the people who thought George Bush was a good president right up until he brought about a world economic collapse. Don't see many of those people standing proud right now either.
Hmmm....so does being number one mean he'll win races in the Williams? I doubt it!!!! That was a mistake for someone his age to go to Williams......now he wins no races instead of a few with Brawn.
I don't know why Rubens left nor am I worried about it. Next year is a different season, with some different rules that will require slightly different cars. I didn't read up on the part about rear aerodynamic design stuff. We'll see who can design and set up a car to not be hard on tires.
Schumi racing in the ROC and lately it has seemed like he was itching to get back in a car. Some say Brawn has Rosberg as their other driver but.. geez. Ross.. his buddy Schumi.. wanting to drive.. I wonder.. hrm.
Rubens probably left because Brawn signed Rosberg and are due to re-sign Button. So he probably thought it's either Williams or one of the new teams. Easy decision in the end.

tracks are not the issue, how do you expect a FI car to pass a Mclaren car.F1 racing is not iroc/nascar/champ car racing they use a formula to build there cars and nobody builds the same.
Any of you Michael Schumacher fans, that live near Vegas, have a chance to go see him race karts next weekend. There is going to be some other F1 drivers as well. Wish I could go. It is the, SKUSA Supernationals, the only confirming link I found was. ozracingwraps.com. Some friends of mine will be racing, they left this morning.
So his neck that was injured clear back last spring and was SO painful he couldn't race F-1 a month ago is now miraculously healed enough to go karting?
Me thinks Mr. MS figured out the Ferrari replacement gig was a no-win situation for him...nothing to gain, everything to lose...and decided he didn't want to play.

Then again if we'd listened to your doom an gloom predictions EVERY YEAR that F-1 would be a smoking heap of rubble already. It's not...yet.
I argue that some cost control would be a good thing for F-1 in general, just not the "camel by committee" controls that keep finding their way to the top. F-1 has always had cost and speed containment initiatives that FAR pre-date Bernie and Max. If you read period literature (I have) you'll see that pretty much everybody predicted the 1.5 litre formula announced in '60 and implemented in '61 was going to be the end of GP racing. It wasn't, in fact that same era is now looked upon as one of the golden ages of F-1. Go figure.
And since when are "no-name" teams a bad thing? Frank Williams started out with borrowed cars and engines in the late '60's, conducting some "questionable" business helping folks avoid importation duties on race cars and parts, etc. Ten years later his team was at the forefront of F-1 and continued that success for many years. McLaren was a "name" driver and created his team in the mid-60's from a talented pool of close friends and associates. The F-1 arm of the team was never particularly successful until the early/mid '70's...a few years after his death. Ken Tyrrell was a lumber broker, shot for the moon in the late '60's and started an F-1 team IN A SHED when Jackie Stewart aligned himself with him. Within 2 years his team was world champion and within 4 years a successful constructor (two more WC's with their own cars). And... You get the idea. Pretty much every team has started from well-intentioned nothing, some succeed while others fail. Not unlike any other pursuit in life.
All that AND I think Bush II was a bad joke foisted upon the American public. Go figure again.
And passing? There has NEVER been as much passing as we who romanticize the "old days" like to imagine. Sure there have been passes, some GREAT passes, but the fact is that open-wheeled cars on a road circuit don't pass as much as taxicabs stuck in the roundabout. You want passing, tune in to World Superbike. You want drama, technology, wretched excess...tune in to F-1. I love 'em both for what they are, not what some folks think they should be.

I was a Honda fan and I was pulling for brawn. But 2010 there's no team for me. lets go ?. I guess I go with the home Team USF1 unless thay use a flag paint scheme.

What a perfect escape for Mercedes from their flagship team seeing how they were riding the failboat and all the crap that went on with Denis and the stewards n such.

I'm in a bit of the same boat. I've always been a Ferrari fan, but I despise Alonso. So my only hope is that Massa will be back and kick Alonso's ass. Probably won't happen but hey, I can dream
The only other thing to look forward too, USF1. I am so tempted to pack up my truck, head down to Charlotte and see if I can get a job with them, hahaha.
