"Toyota Motor Corp., the world's largest car company with the biggest presence in motorsport has decided to withdraw from Formula One and not participate in 2010."
President Akio Toyoda will formally open a four-day meeting of the board tomorrow. It is believed from several sources of the newspaper that a decision is already set about the Formula One team operations.
Toyota is already racing in Formula One since 2002 and entered after a full year of preparation and testing, only to find itself in a struggle for points. The initial was back then to at least run until the end of 2012 but the recent economic downturn makes this expense difficult. Toyota is expected to have 2 consecutive years of financial losses.
Along with Honda's pull out last year, Toyota would leave a Japanese void in Formula One.
sad to see kobayashi missing out on the drive. hopefully one of the other teams snatch him up as a test driver. he definietly deserves a place in F1.
however im happy to see Sauber will be able to make it to the grid. Toyota were a bit of waste i always thought
I just hope Kobayashi gets a drive somewhere for 2010. His driving style is awesome, so exciting to watch, no fear. Aaaah, it's going to be a long wait until the start of next season. I wonder how different the cars are going to be next year. There was some talk about them getting longer on the BBC race coverage. It'll probably be a couple months before they are revealed though.

Has to go longer. fuel cell width is limited to 400mm from center, and can't go further forward than 300mm from the highest point where the driver's back hits the seat. So unless these guys have not been using the current fuel cells to their limits then they will have to about double the size of the cell.
I thought I heard them say the front tires were going to get narrower as well but the technical regs do not reflect this for 2010. Perhaps it was '11.
Are they going to ban the double diffuser so they can get the aero rules like they intended them to be this year? All those changes they made to the cars to improve passing seemed to work at the back of the grid with the cars who didn't have the trick diffuser early in the year. Once they all developed one though, passing moved to the pits again for the most part.
I'm thinking the no refueling rule is going to have a huge effect on the racing. Question is will it make the racing really good or really screw it up? If they get rid of those diffusers that screw up the air behind the cars and make passing on the track possible, it's going to be great. You won't see too many passes in the pits. But if they still can't pass on the track, it's going to turn into follow the leader because they won't have fuel strategies to help leapfrog the opposition. Qualifying will end up being the race to watch.
What's funny is when half the field runs out of gas on the last lap. Seen it before.
But they didn't have the Safety Car bunching up the parade nascar style in those days.
Will we be seeing more of the: "hey # 2 driver, we need a safety car for the #1 driver to finish up front, you wouldn't mind taking one for the team and stuffing it, would you?"

Hmmm....so does being number one mean he'll win races in the Williams? I doubt it!!!! That was a mistake for someone his age to go to Williams......now he wins no races instead of a few with Brawn.
