The object of the political game is to satisfy EVERYONE INCLUDING THE POOR. Your idea is to use the Military as boarder patrol agents?? I thought you knew better than that...take a look what happened in Fallujah: Soldiers operating way out from the current ROE, raping and killing civilians. You can't turn a combat soldier, who is trained to kill, into a guard, especially under the current guidelines of the US Boarder Patrol....bad stuff happens.
Besides there IS a contingent of National Guard and Reserve troops being deployed to the boarder as we speak.

As for the pay raise....no matter who you elect they are going to do that. Which makes me think I should run for some sort of office....but I am too old.
I can't speak for everyone but I am not opposed to paying taxes. There are things I expect my government to do and they need money to do it. What I am opposed to is excessive taxes to fund wasteful projects, kickbacks and never going to work social programs. Instead of a tax increase to fund higher wagers for our soldiers how about ditching the whole BS wasteful stimulus bill. A fraction of that money could fund a nice pay raise for all of them.
Let me give an example of the kind of BS that really ticks me off. Many years ago we here in Virginia had an election and one of the items you could vote on was whether or not to have a lottery. The politicians big selling point for the lottery was that ALL the proceeds would go to the Virginia school system. The schools really needed some more funding and this sounded like a good deal since they could get the funding without a tax increase.
Now here we are a couple decades later and despite massive lottery profits the schools are still broke. Where is all that money going? Well, the politicians didn't lie, all the money does go to schools. But what they failed to tell us at the time is that ALL other funding for the schools would be diverted to other uses. Basically government got bigger, schools stayed the same. Now they are closing schools, laying off staff and telling us all that without more revenue (more taxes) these cuts will continue. Why? What happened to all the non lottery money that used to go to schools? Whatever it goes to now must have been less important than schools or the lottery money would have gone there. Why not re-divert that money?
Meanwhile more and more cuts come in at the State Police. Academy classes are being canceled, can't afford new patrol cars or the equipment that goes in them yet Vita still gets their money. Want to know more about government waste and corruption, look up Vita. One of ex Governor Warner's kickbacks to his buddies at Northrop Grumman.
These are the same questions that is currently being asked (rather bombarded) of Obama....now I want to hear D4mans solutions instead of constant bantering......the same can go for the rest who rather find pleasure in accusing one another of being left/right. You a can gripe on forever on whos a liberal or who is a conservative, but nothing is going to change unless you do something about it.
And just voting doesn't count.

The voters turned down every tax increase in the last election, so what do the wonderful representatives of the people do? they just change the income tax bracket down lower to where the top tax is now at about $46K for a single person.
So now according to the dems, if you make over $46K your ritch! and get to top tax braket of 9.5%

But Nat'l Guard members are paid by thier respected States, unless they are activated by the Federal Gov't. Once activated, they fall under the Federal Payroll. So those guys are getting paid full military wages (which is a joke) by the Gov't. or someone is milking the system at the State level.
Organizing For America, Obummers never ending campaign organization has on their website a call to boycot anything to do with a 9/11 observance, they want to take that away from Americans:

Like for instance what would HE do to solve the illegal immigration problem?

What can he do to to help boost the ecomony WITHOUT additional stimulus packages?

How is he going to prepare thousands of American troops to compete in the current American workplace?

Bud, the fair tax will not work. Why do you think Obama and the Democrats are ramming so much, SEVERELY EXPENSIVE, bills through? It will make tax cuts a thing of the past because of how much debt this idiot is bringing us and our children.
Now, let's take into account what inflation is going to do. Now bear with me on this. When inflation kicks in, and the dollar value continues to plummet, remember when the Obamination said that he will not raise taxes on anyone making less than $250K a year? Well, depending on how much inflation we get slammed with, people making $200K and lower, AGAIN DEPENDING ON HOW HARD WE GET HIT WITH INFLATION, will soon get raised to that bracket, which will remain unchanged. So now, he gets to tax some more people that were initially below that bracket. Obama knows full well on what he is doing. VERY well.
Small business owners, hope and pray inflation does not hit us as bad. Otherwise, bend over, grab your ankles, and squeel!!! Daddy Obama is comin!!!
Furthermore, like Gundam said, it doesn't matter what side is in power. They all have their own objectives. It is up to the public to elect the lesser of two evils. Usually Republicans are the lesser since they support tax cuts everywhere, including large corporations that hire a ton of people to help make them profitable. The public needs to wake up more and pay attention to what is going on. NEVER EVER let your representatives TELL YOU what they want to do because it is good for the state. NEVER!!! I don't know what has happened from 10 - 40 years ago when politicians were hung by their balls and questioned on everything they do, till now. I find this VERY disturbing. It is up to the people to keep politicians honest. If you like your politician, then KEEP THEM HONEST!! Continue to question them! Always!!
Hey CO Jones, do you have the outline of the sections of the HR3200 bill you posted in the other thread? You had questionable sections pointed out that needed further attention. Can you post that again? I know you have Section 140, 141, 142, 143, and some more good ones, up to Section 820 or something.
