Stop that, or I'll really give you something to cry about!
Always wanted to say that...

I'd haunt salvage yards, real and online... forums...and maybe even put cheap ads in local papers for wrecks and disassembled.
Find out what fits, and what doesn't... i can't help you there, I don't know what changes were made over the years. Learn all you can, before you spend a dime.
The bad economy is your friend here. Some one needs cash, and has one spread all over his garage.
Remind yourself that you have the time to get this right, and prepare to walk away from anything you find... the price goes way down sometimes, when you are politely leaving.
I'd like to know what you learn as you do your research, pls post any info?
I know, but which one of YOU?
well i know the engine that was in it before was the ironhead. everything is a stock 58 sportster.
and ill post everything i find

If you didn't already have the engine - I would have suggested looking for a wrecked Buell - sporty engine but a little warmer! I've seen some neat bobbers built off a wrecked Buell. All they used was engin/trans, front tire and shock combo- was pretty neat.

dont really like the bike, but im liking the forum. thanks man!
My pleasure, L.
Lot of cool stuff going on there. I like to look at stuff I don't necessarily like the style of, if it's well built. Never know what kind of solutions to things can be found. It's all brain candy....
I think that bike will be butt ugly.... but I'd ride it in a heartbeat, if he'd let me.
The fact that he likes flat fenders, cuz it's easier to scrape burnt rubber off of..... tells you something.

tells me this guy is exactly like me. i never thought of it that way....but the only place im puttin a fender is to protect the oil tank and tranny.
im gonna start sanding it tomorrow, mount the tank and find a nice ride height.
i wish i had some forks......
If you get a link to the forks you like, post it? And, you can put something modern on it till you find the right springer. They switch easily too.
Looking forward to pics, man. Bigtime.
