Me, I've taken up an interest in prerunners. Guys that take production pickup trucks (usually lights, like Rangers, Tacomas/T100s, and the occasional Dakota or S10/Sonoma) and build them into desert cars. A lot of it's just for fun, but there are racing classes for them, 1400 and 1450, the only difference being 1450 is for amateurs.
I'm a would-be Dimer. Haven't done any real work on my '98 Chevy "S-Dime" yet, got too many bills to pay. But there's a bunch of guys on a forum called DezertDimes are more than willing to help me put together a shopping list while I get my finances in order
Prerunning a Dime is interesting, there's next to nothing in mass-production parts for them so if you're not fabricating everything yourself, you have to find these little upstart fab shops (like the Pirate Lab) to help build up your truck. It's a really close-knit group, fun stuff.

Haha, you know what I get a kick out of? I just love how the pizza cutters (that are SUPPOSED to be on the front) say MT FRONT! DUH!! LMAO, who in their right mind would put those in the rear of a drag car???
IDK I just think that is a lil too funny
let me try to find that one video of that supra that just hauls ass! It's so fast that the hood arches up for some reason. Don't know if that's a good thing or not, lol.

You WILL NOT win this argument my man.. Imports have not caught up to American muscle yet.. And this is coming from someone who owned an import for the last 8 years..
Nissan GT-R
I win

Im at school so i cant watch it, is it silver? and the one i saw squatted a lot
It's kinda bluish/teal. I guess it might be able to pass for a darker silver, but I doubt it. You'll see when you see it I guess...
What bout this dude on his shifter kart on surface streets and the freeway? Crazy ass dude almost hits a car while making a right turn at about 3:15 in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgKD71q4FlY
Show me a GT-R that has gone 10's from the factory and then you come close..
Then show me a GT-R that doesnt need a $20k voided warranty transmission after that pass and then you win..
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE stop trying to compare..
For every import car you show me I can show you a domestic that is doing it quicker and faster..
Again im not biased but some of you guys have to realize that the age old adage has changed.. Turbo = The Replacement for displacement.. What happens when you add the Turbo with the displacement.. The Answer?
You get the fastest Turbo door slammer in the world..

I can show you a GT-R several several runs on the transmission and pulled a 10 sec 1/4 mile
Upgrades:
HKS GT570 Kit - Boost set to 17psi
Amuse STTI Exhaust (Catback)
Harman Motive Air Intake System
Custom Methanol Injection
Custom Cobb Map
18" Volk TE37s w/Mickey Thompson drag radials
Fuel: Mix of 93 and 109. I added a few gallons of 109 to just under a 1/3 tank of 93.
* Side Note: This car has a chromoly rollcage that probably adds 80-90lbs to the car's weight.
The car has stock turbos and stock tranny. And we've launched the car (hard) over 100 times and the transmission has held up just fine. Many are beginning to believe the weak GT-R tranny thing is a myth. The few that broke were from many hard launches done in a row. Like one after the other without the car having a chance to cool down (which we always do between launches.)
We launch everytime at the drag strip when we run.
We set a new GT-R world record tonight at Orlando Speedworld on the last pass of the night... 10.55@128.42.
His tranny breaks, and this is what he has to say about it:
Quote:
Yes, the tranny finally broke on the GT-R. Unfortunately, the OSW track prep was horrible. And with only street cars running all day on it, it only got worse. We had massive wheel hop on most passes and should have known it was going to tear up the gearbox. No worries, though, we knew we'd have to upgrade the gears anyway, and now we'll just be doing it sooner rather than later.
