Default New World Champion

I know this thread is not rc related but we must all be petrol heads inside.
I just wanted to say how happy was to watch Nicky Haydon win the
Moto GP World Championship today.
He finished the race 3rd but took the title over Rossi.
Nice one Nicky!

I thought Nicky's chance was gone after Pedrosa took him out in the last race. Yeah Rossi did kinda hand it to him when he low sided his bike in the 4th lap.
But I still think Nicky earned his title. It's good to see an american win the championship in a european dominated sport. Anyway, Congratulations to Nicky Hayden..

"Domination" is cyclical in motorcycle GP racing. Through the '80's and into the early 90's if you weren't American and from dirt-track background you weren't winning. iir, Wayne Gardner was the only non-American (Aussie) to win a championship in this string. Roberts, Spencer, Lawson, Rainey, Schwantz.

Then the Mick Doohan era (Ausies...they're like Americans only crazier) who was FAR more exciting to watch than the Doctor ever has been.

Now we have the Rossi era...and there's no doubt he's a TREMENDOUS talent. Best ever, hard to say...Doohan was a very determined racer, and Steady Eddie was tough to beat when it came to racking up points.

I thought out of that group Fast Freddy Spencer was the best, Hurt his wrist the year he won both the 250 and the 500, He was never the same after he had an operation to repair his wrist. He was ballistic for about half a race, his wrist would swell up and I guess the pain was to much. I do think that Scottrik is correct on his statement. It seems to go in cycles ( )
