Regarding the new CTA:

Will wcics allow Gravity spec tires on a vta body?

And inversely,

Will wcics allow a tuner body to run HPI vta treads?

for reference - seattle allows mix and match, as does the Vancouver OGR club, and the indoor Timezone GP from 2014

the tire rule at RRR: any hpi d compound tire, or Gravity USGT

Thanks for helping with all the questions everyone!

Yes, battery voltage is 8.400000, whether the pack can hold up to 1 MILLION VOLTS (insert Dr. Evil stare) or not, 8.2 is the limit, so it equalizes all.

Luke, you rock, thanks for that dose of reality for everyone.

I learned that lesson early on, when Paul Lemieux came to Korgae's track in BC which had been running the same layout for about a year. He dropped his car on it for the first time, and went way faster than anyone ever had.

It's the fleshy equipment holding the radio that makes the difference at our level, lol.

Thanks again for everyone with experience at other places that run USGT and CTA together, it's new for WCICS, but we'd looked at the results of guys running both classes and as others pointed out, it looks like it should work well.

For now, the 2 classes each have their own rules/bodies/tires. No mix and match. The idea is scale spec reality, so no vintage tires on an NSX, and no low profile rubber band tires on a 'Cuda. But as always, we're constantly improving, so if you think something can be improved in the class rules, let your rep know!

Rules will be out by Sept 1, just waiting on final votes from the Reps to finalize the changes. Just so you can have a look, here's the (at this point not final) "Fast and Furious" rules:

Want to make sure this means "gravity rc" brand tires only as there are others mounting up the ride 24025 tires the same as he does.

I too would like to know if the pre-mounted tire is necessary for usgt.

The tire itself (manufactured by Ride) can be purchased separately and includes the foam insert. Allowing different rim choices would help enhance the "scale" of the scale spec class.

I agree with Danny. The fast/furious name sounds a little lame.

As soon as you open up the tire rule so people can custom build their tires via inserts, its taken away from the intent of that class. Unless you want tires cut apart after the mains to ensure everyone is on the same inserts.

This means no slammed, cutout, looks like a IMCA Dirt modified racer allowed.

I believe the foam insert is included with the tire. Cheating via inserts has not been an issue with other wcics classes like mini and VTA, where tires are to be assembled. Limiting the class to just pre-mounted Gravity (which are Ride tires, Ride inserts, 26mm rims, and then packaged by a world class driver) is a good way to spec a class that allows non-spec tires. HPI vintage tires for this new scale spec class are still required to be built anyways. Spec'd pre-mounts for one tire and not the other, will just hurt and confuse the class.

All in all, I agree with you. Not sure on the official answer as of yet, though.

It's a tough one. On one hand I can bring in the ride tires for you, on the other hand Paul lemuiex has done a lot to help the sport and it's good to support him. Allowing different rims will mean different flex etc. sticking with the 3 spec rims offered by gravity will make sure competition is fair.

The whole point of the class is scale. Being limited to 3 rims, does not help this. Just like with VTA and mini, I dont see rim flex being a major point of concern or contention.

If everyone starts using just the lightweight nylon rim and a Cadillac body and a specific motor that out-performs all others, then i believe it will be time to re-asses the class and start adding more restrictions. But we should give this class a chance, before a strict rule starts to be applied - like spec-ing to a couple rims.
