Whats up. Robert Cyr here. As Gary said most of the dirts in for the base now just for the jumps and then we need people to operate the packers, We will rent 3 for sure and pound that track in place. I'll stop by the mall sometime after 3:00 pm Sat. Later dudes.
Hey Robert, good to see you on the forum. We are all meeting at the theatre entrance so that we can find out where we are supposed to set up. I will be there till about 1 or 2 pm then I have to work. Make sure your vehicles are nice and shiny!
Any of you other guys interested in going to the Mothball run in Edmonton this weekend? I'm going down there with me family and I will hopefully be racing in it with my 1/8th. Its a 3 day race, it should be intense.
I won't be able to go, but good luck in the race!! I also wanted to thank all the members that made it to the mall show. It was great to see you all there. Thanks to Ken, Gregg, Mike, Jamie, Brad and Don. We had quite a few people interested in coming out to see the races and hopefully more potential members.
I might be interested, if I don't have to work, and I have my MT2 18SS built by then. I'll keep in touch with you Brad, If I can go or not. I've been wanting to go check out the Edmonton track all winter.

Which days are the races Brad. Are they April 30 & May 1.
I am in edmonton next weekend .
Does anyone know when we can get load 2 to the track so we can get the jumps done. Man this was a great week for me to do the work at the track.
Gone to Hinton next mon, tues, wed. Can't help at the track then.
NEED DIRT BAAAAAD
later dudes.
Brad, here's a photo of the 18SS. I've got the old rims and tires on in this photo because I was out doing some bashing and didn't want to waste the dirt bonz tires that came with the truck.
I was out ripping around in a field in Beaverlodge today. Couldn't get the engine to come up to temp due to the cold temperatures we're stuck with for the weekend. I wrapped part of the head in tinfoil to try to reduce the cooling capacity of the heat sink, but I wasn't able to test it as my glow plug ingniter battery died...

Here's a photo of the engine with tinfoil wrapped around part of the cooling head. The one time I did get the engine to come up to temp (230 degrees), it ripped hard! It was almost pulling the front tires off the ground when wailing across the soccer field!
Hey Brad, you'll be interested in this... My engine compression gauge came in the mail today (The one you told me about, from Great Hobbies). The new OS engine's compression is at 53 PSI right now. Does anyone know if this is good, bad, or otherwize? I haven't a clue what it should be on a new engine.

Dirt is here! 7:00am this morning! Now we just need to get to work building the track for the weekend. Me, Rob and Gary I guess are all gone this weekend, so if anyone else can organize something that would be great. Robert the races will be on the 6&7th now, since the weather is going to be brutal they moved the race to next weekend. I'm still going to be racing though! Carpet track
Truck looks good Gregg, I'm thinking that 53psi is quite good. Bring the gauge to the first race and then you can get some other readings to compare it too.
Hey guys, we need help with the track today and tomorrow. I have rented a bobcat and Robert will be renting a couple of packers. We need people to help with the packers and lifting the drivers stand. Please come out after supper.
Brad: Well, I managed to get Saturday off... but I'll have to work Sunday... so I still couldn't have gone to Edmonton with ya.
I ended up running the bobcat all day Saturday, with Gary directing the work. We cleaned up the rough track layout that Rob had worked on with the bobcat the previous day and early Sat. morning. The dirt was quite wet, and was pretty tough to work with when Rob was trying to make the jumps. Once the track was roughed in and allowed to dry for a while, the job was much easier for me by the time I got on the loader for my shift.
It took a lot of long hours, but we all managed to finish it. It went from nothing to a raceable track in one and a half days!
Gary: I guess the races are on for Saturday May 7th??? If so, I'll book that day off so I can be there.
Thanks to Gary, Rob, Ken, Don, Darren, and Myself for all the hard work it took to put the new track together. Did I miss anyone?
