As for controlled practice, I like the idea of Stock classes then Mod classes then 12th classes. How about maximum 10 drivers on the drivers stand, line up on left, someone leaves, another one gets on and the control practice is 10 minutes long per class? I think this sounds good. Opinions?
12/16 seems entirely too long.. but if you ran 10 minute TC and 12 minute 1/12 and have one group up for the first half and another for the second, no new people once a group has started running, you could get the 6 minute guys to roughly 83% of a full run, and the 1/12 guys to roughly 75% of a full run.
Just thoughts, feel free to point out flaws in my logic.

Controlled Practice
Always thanks for the feedback guys on the thread and thru PM. I don’t seem to have any negative feedback so we will be holding the Driver’s Meeting and Concourse on Friday Night at 9 PM.
As for free practice vs controlled practice, I was thinking that on Friday, we have free practice from 12pm to 6pm. It should start getting busier so then we would hold controlled practice till the herd thins out and run free practice till closing at 11pm. Does that sound okay?

There have been “concerns” expressed to me that having 2 demo classes may cause us to run long days. I’ve done the math for 23-25 heats and with 2 minutes or less of breaks between each heat, we at best can make 3 hours per round and at worse should not go over 3 ˝ hours per round. So if we start at 9am on Saturday, we at best will finish at 6pm and at worse 7:30pm. Dinner (optional and you can sign up at registration) will start around 6:30pm with the bar also open at this time. We will close the track at 11pm. This is the plan anyways.
Any feedback is always welcome. I’m kinda just going with the flow.

ps. did you guys register at the www.wcics.ca website yet???

with our practice nights here, we found it worked well to split it to 'speed' of the cars... in our case Mini and Novice, Stock and F1, TC Mod and WGT. So that was 3 sessions. To make it simple we added a 4th sessions of "open to all" practise and gave them each 15mins of track time. Which worked perfectly with starting a new 'round' on the hour. We made sure to post the "rotation" around the track so people could figure out when they could run.
See you guys Friday.

Jim, do you think you could do up a topographical map?

Control Practice
Thanks for the feedback guys.
This is what I think I know:
- Open practice Friday around 12pm (officially start when tables an chairs arrive and out of towners setup!!!) to 6pm
- Open practice Friday after 9pm Driver’s Meeting so that should be around 9:30 pm to 11pm
- Open practice Saturday after 3rd round of qualifying which should be sometime after 6pm till 11pm
That’s a lot of open practice time for the guys that like to test drive their cars.
For Friday night between 6pm – 9 pm I’m assuming it will get real busy as most people are rolling in at this time so everyone wants to get on the track. Hopefully, a controlled practice will get the guys that don’t get a chance to run that much during open practice some time on the track.
Here’s my plan for Friday night:
20 minutes TC Stock and TC Mod
20 minutes Mini, VTA, and Mod Mini
15 minutes 12th Stock / Superstock, WGT and F1
Repeat
Repeat
Here’s my plan for Saturday and Sunday morning:
15 minutes TC Stock and TC Mod
15 minutes Mini, VTA and Mod Mini
15 minutes 12th Stock / Superstock, WGT and F1
Repeat
5 minute run time, Race director will make regular announcements of how much time you got left and for the next group to go up. First come first serve. Line up on left, exit on right. 10 max on the driver’s stand.
Biggest issue is marshalling after your practice run. Please do it for the amount of time you’re on the driver’s stand. Unfortunately, there are guys that just don’t seem to marshal even when they know they should. There has been a great suggestion about using punch cards for controlled practices. It just means more work for us. If it becomes a gong show, we’ll entertain that and other ideas next year.
I’ll post a rotation up in case anyone says they don’t know what’s going on that night.

2 more days!!!
There's probably at least 20 more guys I know are coming but not registered online. Oh well. At least get your paid registration in on Friday night and get your hand out tires too so I can start entering names and so I'll have less work to do Saturday morning.
I have one person so far tell me they can't show up till mid Saturday and want to race. PM me so I can get you in the computer.
That's all I got for now.

That wouldn't happen to be Mr Carter, hey Ivan.
Sorry couldn't help that one, but in all seriousness, too bad someone is going to miss some track time.

As for Carter, he'll have plenty of track time with 7 classes. Think Cal is doing 7 too. I'm just going for the silly untouchable record.
Everyone will have a taste of Larry on the Mic when he runs Control Practice starting at 6pm Friday. Driver's meeting and Concourse at 9pm.
I'm picking up door prizes tomorrow!
