All I know is my Cyclone really doesn't like 2 x 4's! Tried it last year, not good.
Apparently Calgary uses square rain gutter material with velcro on the bottom. They told me it sticks to the carpet very well and still has enough give to protect the cars.
That is what i thought with the 2x4,s and the 2 1/2 is the square rain gutter, and yes the velcro sticks to the carpet very well.
I can also make the plugs for the ends too as I have a bunch of tools to do it at home and I dont mind doing it either.
2x4 are cruel, that being said last years gpmra indoor track was nicely built even with 2x4's. Maybe if the funds aren't there we could use them. Run them through a tablesaw and bevel the edges so the cars ride up on them a little easier.
There should be enough plastic down pipes for both tracks. They are very nice and durable.I think they can be use in the summer too.
What tires work good in that carpet?

Either way Rod we were running Jaco Blues before. Sounds like this carpet might be a little bit different so it may be some "trial and error" in the beginning to see what works.

We are not going to spec a tire for everyone to use just so everyone can run what they bring. But we will be recomending a tire.
As for the tires I have run the HPI tread tire and the Jaco tires on this carpet so far and both of them heated up and worked well but when the Jaco's got hot they really hooked up well. Also I did not use any traction compound on either.
I do believe when we are going to be setting the whole track up Brad, Darren and I were going to be trying a bunch of tires to see what works the best and we will let everyone know. But for now I would expect the Jaco's to work the best.

so any one have any idea on what kinda car i should get im having a hard time to diside
Anything Xray or Associated Randy. Easiest to get parts for. Tamiya is a good option also. I don't recommend Hotbodies though. If you don't want to buy new there are used one's coming for sale all the time because these cars get updated every year.
Which one's are you considering?

Randy- This would be my list of best cars. Listed considering value, performance and parts availability. With a bit of a leaning towards performance over price.
1.Used Xray T2'008 or T2'009 (usually in good shape, and come with spares)
2.Used Associated TC5R (usually in good shape, and come with spares)
3.Xray T2R Pro (really good value)
4.Associated TC5R (easy to get parts for, decent quality, good value)
5.Team Losi JRX-S Type R (good design, harder to setup)
6.Tamiya TB03 (all year) or Tamiya TA05 v.2 (indoor only)
7.Xray T3 (too much money to be higher up)
8.Tamiya TRF416X (too much money to be higher up)
9.HPI Sprint 2 RTR (cheap, but low performance)
10.Tamiya TT01E (really cheap, and really low performance)

Hey brad that tamiya mini 1/10 front wheel drive i got off of you guys this summer could a guy race that or should i start looking for something else mind you i won't be racing that much at all this winter
so any one have any idea on what kinda car i should get im having a hard time to diside
Any of the top three on Brad's list would be my first choice Randy. The T2R Pro is on sale at Hobby Room right now for $312. Pretty good deal considering a brand new T3 is over $500.
The Tamiya that would be high on my list is the one that Jay ran last summer (TB03?). Shaft drive is a really nice thing to have outdoors. All the little pebbles that are everywhere in this town destroy the belts and pulleys on other cars before you even know you have a problem. Just don't know how competitive it would be compared to the belt drive cars indoors when rocks aren't a problem.
The one extremely redeeming quality about the Hotbodies is it's ridiculously cheap price you can get one for. The Cyclone S Kit is like $125. Cory at Hobbyroom told me that quite a few guys are running them in Edmonton now so he's keeping a decent supply of parts on hand for them now. But if he doesn't have them in stock, your waiting at least a month. Just like your Savage and D8T stuff.
