Thumbs up 2010 Mid Winter Challenge Race - Kamloops

Hey Jesse, Chris. Just thought I would pass along the dates of our Mid-Winter Challenge race this season. January 22, 23 & 24. We have had to move it back a tad this year due to bookings in the community and to work around other large races within the area.

Hope you all can make it....

Yep same way Volunteers get rewarded at RRR Raceway.....

If people want more time to practice and get in more track time....they will help. The OGR guys shouldnt have to do everything.

Default F104 Class.

F1 boys, lets see how many of us going to make this winter a blast.
The new F104 should be a blast to drive.
It'll be a spec class with mabuchi motors or black can. I highly recommend black cans.
Batteries, it be the spec 2400 Reedy or Orion's lipos
Foam tires from Tamiya.
No weight restrictions.
I know a number of us have them as we speak.
To name some of the individuals.
Alfred, Lewis, Jason, Jesse, Me, Atila and more to come.
Livery so far we have seen, McLaren, Ferrari..

Thanks for the kind words Ryan. It's true hopefully, this year would be the turn point for the better. Together we work, the more time practice and racing can be put in.

Points can still be in place but we are still looking for volunteers. Once we got that the reward points can be in place. This would be nice for racers wanting to max out the points for the winter. so winning the class doesn't mean you have the highest points but the extra reward points would take it further.

+3 for the F104 class:

Brett, Zach and Dan, all with Reedy LiPo and Black Cans.

There might be a couple updated Minis in the group too

I for one am happy to help out building and tearing down the track. It is a part of racing that everyone needs to realize is their responsibility just like marshaling.

Other than weekend I have offroad commitments I will be definitely on for the F1 and mini racing.
I just need to decide what team colors are going to be for my F1.. woot woot!

Default Mini Class....Club Rules.....Not TCS????

Hey guys I figured that I'd post this just to get everyones opinion.
Cause i'm gona post mine here. Last year the Mini class was brought in to be a fun inexpensive class, someting to suport the racers that want a second class and a learning class for those new to the hobby. While Yes I did win last year I enjoyed the compeditiveness of the class I had tones of fun racing Eli and Hans and Bak Choi. Not knowing who would be on their driving game from week to week was fun. With the Spec batteries now in place it should be even tighter this year. Thats where my concerns are raised. After seeing the differences between the cars @ The Chill this year using TCS Rules and having no weight limit, this turned into a who spent more on their car class. The top cars @ the Chill taking nothing away from them that they drove well and were within the rules were much lighter due to Small servos, micro receivers and small esc's. My thoughts are this if the class turns into a who can spend more money class it will discourage the new racers and possibly the racers who don't want to spend extra money on their "Support Class". By having a set weight limit, not nesicarily the 1400g that we ran last year. Calgary runs 1200g It discourages the extra spending on light weight electronics and makes the class affordable and accessable to all drivers. The cars are already light with the lipo batteries, and I know first hand how much easier the cars are to drive with more weight in them. Also knowing that I may not run this class this year I'd still like to see a level playing field for all the drivers....not just the ones who can throw money at their cars. If we can come up with a set of rules that could be used by all the clubs in the area (Kamloops is trying to get this class started and Phill and Matt from the Island have cars) maybe everyone can adopt them for special events, so everyone can run together. I know for myself I won't be running TCS rules, cause I'd rather spend the extra money on my Touring Car. If there is a weight limit I might bring out my Mini again for a couple races.

Just my opinion...
anyone else???

Ryan

yes! I like mini alot now its changing, to have people fly past you is not fun everyone should be some what even weight, power, bodies. Thats if your racing. Hope OGR will look at these things to keep it fun. As for TC same thing everyone should have the same motor at least or something? Everyone should be using the same motor or at least size. From what i saw at the race there was some big diffrences in power and speed. I like to race but can only afford so much im sure everyone thinks this. So maybe they will think about this to. A race of driving skills not of who has the best electronics.
