I ran my WorldGT once last weekend. I had to borrow a 4cell, as I don't have any round cells right now and my 1s pack just came in today. I used the Sophia shell. I thought it ran very well for the first run. If I was too aggressive entering fast corners it would pick up the inside a bit and scrub speed. I'm very new to this pan car thing, so it's a work in progress. The good news that it was good enough to have fun racing on its first time on the track, and it'll only get better. It's a great replacement for foam TC, for all of us that miss foam TCs.

For TC, I'll definitely run SS, and probably also Stock.

According to one or our former racers it does.

That is a huge part of why this class is in WCICS

another big reason for allowing Li-Po in this year, is that we knew of some new developments coming.

like this sort of thing : http://www.redrc.net/2009/08/speedzo...o-saddle-pack/

For 1/12 scale is there any brand restriction for the 1 cell Lipo's. Is there specific batteries that are needed to be able to run?

there's a capacity cap, same as touring car. 5400 mah
also, has to be hard cased.
should also be ROAR approved, like the rest of our classes.
other than that, I think it's just 3.7volt 1 c packs.

Stu
p.s. any specifc questions, like is this particular battery ok before I go out and buy it sort of thing, just fire them off to your rep or me.

Too bad we need to have a roar approved battery. You could save alot of money on lipo's if you could buy any of them.
I've been running some Lipo's for a 1/4 the price in my planes and have yet to have any of them fail. They also can be better than lipo's at 4 times there price. Most are the same cells without paying for manufacturers names.

I understand why we need roar batteries it's just too bad we can't trust them all.

For WGT can you install a 5th body post on the chassis to support the hood of the car.

I checked the WGT2009 rule book and there was no mention of this restriction.

Ran my car that way all of last year in WCIC, works good.

I think you answered your own question there.

but, the main difference between planes and cars is the contact that comes with racing cars.
Safety first worked for us last year, so that's why we will be continuing with ROAR approved only.

The TC capacity cap should be changed to be whatever ROAR approves. There are now sport packs with higher mah ratings than 5400, the nice thing about going to a bigger Lipo is they weigh more so its easier to balance your car out and since our unrealistic weight break hasn't been changed it would make it a lot easier to add battery over more lead.

IIC is 1425, EFRA is 1450, I think ROAR will folllow suit very soon to EFRA standards. Will that mean we will change then, maybe mid season, probably not in the best interest of the series. (Did I miss some discussion, or has this been debated already, please let me know and I'll do some reading)

At one time the thought was that higher mah cells would be more money, but the ceiling seems to have been set, now its more based on C rating that costs more, so to limit on capacity doesn't seem to be the way to do it. Maybe a price limit based on a listed price would be more in order, lets say, using the prices listed on Stormers site for a reference, but still must be ROAR approved. Just a thought.

ROAR Asphalt nats are running at 1420. Honestly though, I think 1450 is the way to go.

I'm pretty sure the next ISTC worlds will be run with Li-pos (read that somewhere) and I can't see the weight changing. 1450 is easily attainable with a li-po battery, especially if you run a higher capacity one, say 5000mAh.

Also, instead of going with a price cap, go with a C rating cap. The technology is bound to get better throughout the year, and the prices of packs with obscenely high C ratings will go down.

The packs I bought at the beginning of last carpet season are now obsolete as far as C ratings go. 28c when they were bought was one of the best on the market. They've now got them up to 50c! (https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...l?pn=SMC5250CM)

It seems we've strayed away from why the Li-pos were good, and turned it into another "who has more money/sponsors" game.
Reasons Li-pos are good:

1. No more having to buy new cells every season to be competitive.
2. Cells don't require as much TLC.
3. Less packs to buy. Two Li-pos can run you 2 TC classes a weekend.

Now, for me, #1 is a HUGE one. If I bought new Li-pos this season, and went with the ones in the link above, I would be paying more then what I would pay when buying 3 competitive packs of NiMH cells.

Limiting the change in tech will limit the money that needs to be spent.
