At our Summer Sizzler we ran 4 cell and 1s lipo together with weight restrictions :12th scale Summer Sizzler Rules
Jose suggested this would be good rules for 12th scale at the Sizzler.
13.5 being the motor best choices,
and Racer option either go 4 cell @ 865g or 1C @ 730g and the results were very close. This is from one of the racers.
Hey, some fun facts about the 1S lipo 12th cars running this past weekend.
4 out of 5 cars were powered by 1S.
The 4 cell car TQ'ed by only 4 seconds in a 6 minute abbreviated heats.
The 4 cell car won by only 3 feet in an 8 minute main.
The 1S car only needs one pack at $65.
The 4 cell car needs several at $55.
1S tire wear after 127 laps was .7mm.
Effective duration, 45-42mm: 535 laps.
Parts wear & tear after 8 events: 1.5 sets of tires, 1 body.
This was outdoor asphalt.Didn't mean to high jack your thread.
Definately dont be sorry, thats awesome information. Thats the exact reason im going lipo. As for the weight reduction, here is a plan as i see it. For now, both have the same weight, no point guessing a number. Keep it simple. Like Stu said, we go back indoor a while before we have the first Wcics race, plenty of time to get a better idea of what the weight should change to, if at all. We need info back from Edmonton, Regina, Lethbridge, from every club. I can easily see the weight change (if at all) in Edmonton will definately be different than say Lethbridge which is much tighter.
Well to get this 1S thing going I think I am going to commit to running Lipo in Edmonton when are club season starts. I think with running 10.5 a driver who is clean will reap some rewards from this setup. Or better yet I can give Wayne the car for a qualifier and see what he can do. That will then help determine if a weight reduction is warranted.

I think I'm going to do a few of these races this year. I've just got to decide on a second class to go along side super stock touring. Mini, GT, or 1/12th 19t? Which normally most popular? Is 1/12th a pretty expensive class to race? Also, I'm pretty sure this won't be possible, but, would the Tamiya F104 Pro be able to run in GT class? (that car looks amazing!!!!)

It'll depend on your personaly preference, as all the classes you just mentioned are quite cheap to run. Mini, requires a car to be bought which will come with motor and speed control, will require different tires to be competitive, GT, itll just cost you a silver can and a new GT body. 12th 19t obviously will cost the most to get setup, but again once its setup, its very cheap to run. As for the F104, id love to see these out there, but they need to be on rubber tires for GT. I got mine to handle reasonably well at Carcar, but not there yet. If you want to go that way, id suggest building the F104 with the F103GT parts so you can put touring car rubber on it. Im still thinking of doing that this year Me, ill be running Mini, 12th stock, possibly 12th 19t, possibly GT and possibly Touring, I always wait till the very end lol.
As for the most popular, Mini is very popular, GT and 12th are fairly popular. im sure someone here has some statistics for numbers of each class???

Have you tried WGT yet Adam?
It's a blast !
I just can't decide which body to go for this year.
I found the Sophia to harsh for my somewhat aggressive driving style.
