Hey Jeff

I had assumed and had heard and read that 17.5 is the equivalent of stock. I could be wrong though. What are people's thoughts on this as there will be a mix of brushed stock motors and now brushless in the same class.

Thanks

Aaron

your correct Aaron but a 17.5T brushless is equivalent of a 27T 540 brushed motor not a 550 12T brushed.
That's why I too am asking the question.

550 brushed bigger, longer comm, more torque
540 brushed smaller, smaller comm, more rpm
now throw in brushless motors and I'm confused.

Paging Mr. West.......LOL

Isnt the SC10 fitted with a 17t? Id be more focused on that motor than the 12t paperweight....

In the dirt, they all ran similar, I know one of the guys was running a 17.5 and was the same speed as everyone, but it will be interesting on carpet. I dont see problem with leaving it as is, 17.5, and then IF there is a huge speed advantage with a 17.5, it can be looked at during the season.

Does anyone have a SC10 Roller lying around???

There is already a big difference in available motor power for the CORR Truck class. Nobody runs 540 silver cans, and the 15t HPI and 17t Reedy 540 class motors have an advantage in power output and speed over the Traxxas 12t. For example, the Reedy is a 30,000 rpm motor on a 7 cell pack. It may down slightly on torque, but when you gear it to have the same speed, the torque to the drivetrain increases significantly. The 17.5 brushless will have about the same power output as the Reedy, but will be way down on speed. Geared correctly, they should be close.

I totally agree with adding a no-maintenance brushless option to this class and a 17.5 is the most reasonable motor to pick. Most tracks in the States running CORR truck classes include 27t brushed, 17.5 BL, and any of the RTR brushed motor options in their Stock Class. As the Trukz exec listens to and takes advice from the racers, if there are clear performance advantages running the 17.5, then we will make changes later.

Last year at the first race Rod had a 17.5 in his sc10. He TQed and won the A-main but I don't think much of that had to do with the motor, because I wasnt too far behind him with my titan 12t powered sc10..

Indoors, all of this discussion becomes less important as straights are too short for the cars to stretch their legs, and as you alluded to, it is more about the driver than the vehicle.

Just look at the last off-road night - Jeff's truck was running with a totally pooched motor and he still finished in second... Power is nothing without control (stolen from a Pirelli add)

LMAO!
Yup it was a dog, but I have a new one to put in.
I only got 2nd because Colton had a major hickup.......
I blew up a reedy in 10 minutes, geared it too tall. It needs to be lower than stock gearing.
HPI 15T forget about it, that motor is a dog with nothing for brakes when applied.

also currently running a twister 2 with a reedy 19t brushed and OMG is that a trip!!!
Can't imagine these guys with a 10.5 brushless in them......

Considering you can pick up a SP 17.5 motor combo (thats motor AND ESC!) for $80cdn in your hand (Ivan's group buy), im happy to hear BL is included. If you have a stock brushed motor going south, consider the SP 17.5 combo, its a great option! Plus you can use the same motor and esc in Stock Touring. Even if the 17.5 is slightly quicker, or slower, id like to see us stick with the 17.5 rule, as the Touring guys will always have a flow of second hand motors for the Corr guys to pick up!

Hey Guys

This is great discussion. Let's keep this going and we will come up with a decision on motors or finalize the 17.5 option.

Like AJ mentioned, once we have confirmed a motor option I will ask Ivan about getting the Speed Passion group by going for the selected motor so people that want a brushless option can get one on the cheap.

Looking forward to a couple more successful outdoor races then some great indoor races.

I will post the Trukz sponsored outdoor race days in September soon.

Thanks All

Aaron

Hopefully, by the next race date I will be running an SC10 with the 17.5 Speed Passion Cirtix Club system. We can easily compare speeds then...

Just remember I need 10 combos to get the deal. Once I get the numbers, the order will take about 2-3 weeks to get here. My last order (which should be here in a week) I ordered 22 combos with 2 extra (one 21.5 and one 17.5). The 21.5 is spoken for and I do have one extra 17.5. If anyone wants that one, let me know.

Hey guys, giving you the first heads up... This morning Rod slashed prices on a bunch of Associated cars, someone might want to snap 'em up.. 1 x FT T4 kit for $199, 1 x T4 RTR for $149, 2 x FT B4 kit for $149, there's also a FT RC8 kit for $299 and a FT GT2 kit for $149.

Also, for what it's worth, there's a new version of the 4pk coming out, the 4pks, so we are blowing out our stock of the regular 4pk @ $419.

Ryan, do you have in stock the shims/washers/spacers for 1/12 rear axle? Thanks.
