Yes, it's true. There will be no more racing at MacDonald Park. Despite a favourable report from Parks and Rec which said the complaints had no merit, the politicians stepped in and ordered them to "remove" the source of complaints.
The "upside" is that Parks & Rec want to find somewhere to relocate us, and have indicated they will help. However, it'll be a while before we have a track capable of hosting major events again.
At this point it is probably safe to say we will not be hosting a major event next August long weekend. If we have a major event it will be the Riverside Park "parking lot" event, which is usually the last weekend of July.
I really hate to see a good rack down the tubes. Kamloops was my favorite place too race.
Thats the way it works with the nats. We say it at the pavement nats with the rules. It's hard for canadian tracks to follow the same rules as the U.S. does. We have less racers and I think the rules should be change a little to accomadate.
I met T Rex Baldwin this last weekend down at Rain City in Washington. I must say i left with a bitter taste in my mouth about ROAR..
The rules I beleive in the cause I beleive in but the sheer attitude that he posseses about Roar in Canada.. i dont agree with..
He made it very clear to myself, and others that all they were intrested in was our Money.. (plus exchange rate lol)
The write up about our Nationals is in the current Rev-up (most members have already received it) I was shocked to find out he couldent even name a Canadian ROAR National Champion..... he has no clue who is even a national champion in Canada.. His only comment was that he has not received membership money yet...and was not pleased... their was more said but It is not my place to post it in a forum
in the past i was a strong beleiver in ROAR and what it stood for.. my thoughts have now changed.. I will be stepping down as regional director in BC as feal that I can not promote something that doesent make sence.. something that doesnt support us!
Roar needs to understand the difference between Canada and the USA . and they don't want to..
It clearly works in the US and I will continue my membership for the US races I attend but in canada.. I dont know...
When someone who has been in the past a large supporter of ROAR appears disenchanted to me that is not a good sign.
I am sorry to hear of the demise of the track in Kamloops Brooke and I had a lot of fun running there and it will be missed.
On a lighter note the Tri-Cities first leg is this weekend in Edmonton at Cises school located just outside of Sherwood park. For more information you can e-mail me or phone Hobbydirect or Hobby Wholesale
See you there
Kamloops Parks & Rec have indicated that they want Kamloops to have a track that is capable of holding Regional and National events - so I hope we really will be up and running again soon.
In the meantime, we are confirmed for the 3rd weekend in February for the Midwinter Challenge. Hope some of you will be able to make it.
Sad to hear Kamloops has lost there outdoor facility. Hopefully Parks & Rec can find a new location for the Club for the up comming season as I was looking forward to running dirt. See some of you on Sunday in Kamloops. Later DOUG
Yes it SUCKS! Mildly speaking! The City of Kamloops taking our track away from us, that is! With all the hard work and dedication we put into that facility, I feel like I lost a small part of me? Many good races and fond memories.
Anyway, enough of that. We will be looking to get a new facility next year that will hopefully fit the bill for both the "Racers" and the "Citizens" of this community. No worries! We will push this thing untill we are satisfied. I will not let a good thing come to an end!
Our indoor season is rolling along quite nicely and we invite anyone out to race, especially any of those who we have not seen for awhile. Our big "Mid Winter Race" in February is for sure a go and we look forward to seeing many of you there. February 16th and 17th More details and an entry form comming soon.
Take care all and hope to see you at a track soon.

Another excellent race at Kamloops yesterday. 27 cars entered, with pan cars leading the way with 12 cars. Touring Stock (6) and touring Mod (5) were also well represented, and four novices completed the field.
R.J. is now moving clear at the top of the field in the club championship (30), with Jason Mardon in second (21). Third through fifth are closely contested, though, with Aaron Brookbank (15), Ken Carroll (13) and Jenny Belik (11).
R.J. and Doug continue to dominate Touring Mod with those buzzin' XXX-S's, although Ken got in amongst them with his Schumacher Axis 2 until his battery went away.
Best of luck to Abbotsford with their Trophy race this weekend. For once there won't be much of an entry from Kamloops, as it conflicts with the Totem Rally. Next time I expect we'll be there.
Any news from last weekend's Tri Cities race in Edmonton ?
