When you run Triple A Mains, the first races of the mains have to be the first round of the "A"s. That means you cannot have bump ups, because the "C"s and "B"s run after the "A"s have already started.
Our pan car series has always allowed drivers that "last chance" of making the "A" if they can win the B.
Remember, we will likely have a dozen pan cars out at the race, and that means five of us would get one B main and spend the rest of the afternoon marshalling or watching as the others get three mains. This is what I refer to as a distorted amount of track time between different drivers. Should we do that at a "fun" race ?
And in a pan car main, we've seldom seen the faster drivers NOT be able to recover from an early crash unless they actually break their cars. JMO.
Just stressing, once again, that this is only an issue if we DON'T get out of town drivers. If Dave Palmer comes up here and brings a bunch of others, then we are already committed to the Triple A's.
I thought that we were only going to offer triples for the TC's and nothing else.
We can have the computer setup fro triples but then only run one for pancar and do the bump ups manually. Yes, I know its a pain but Triples for pancar will make the whole bump up issue more difficult.
Hey guys I'm trying to get an answer out of the guys if there going to the race or not. No one wants to give me a yes or no. Lots of maybes.
On the triple mains, when we travel for racing we want to get all the racing we can. Qualifying can get old to quickly. I would rather battle someone bumper to bumper than just on the clock.
I think anyone who will be coming from here will be running touring so I don't think anyone would care about singles main for pan car and go with bump ups.
Something to consider, though it may not be ideal for the racers that can only come out on Sunday.
Have two regular 3 qual + 1 main pro10 races, one each on Saturday and Sunday. It's a double points race anyway so the same number of points would be up for grabs. Might provide a bit more incentive to race on Saturday as well as 7 qualifying rounds for 1 main seems a bit tiring . Would also help downplay the luck factor in a single race for double points... Just a thought.
Yeah thats all i was trying to get at is that it is a double points race and it might help downplay that luck factor. Yes it might be a bit annoying for those people not there on saturday but i guess this is something to consider depending on how many outta towners we get. Touring car A's would be enough tho.
Triple A Mains are and were always going to be in the Touring Car Classes ONLY. This was stated in the actual thread "2004 Kamloops Mid-Winter Challenge ". The only way this will change, is if we do not get a big enough showing from out of town. Then and only then will we revert back to a qualifier and single A main format. No matter what, there will not be Triple A Mains for the Pan Car Class. However, I would entertain Greg's idea.....would have to be put to a vote.

Regarding Greg's idea of separate pan car points for Saturday and Sunday....That would work for me, as I would only miss Saturday, and could opt to use it as a throw-away. Then the lack of practice (Saturday's running) on Sunday would only put me at risk for a "single" level of points. It avoids a "double jeopardy". It would require some careful handling of the computer, though, to get it set up to handle that.
"Whoop Ass"....we already said that if you come you will have Triple A's....it's just a question of what to do if you DON'T come.
If we do it Greg's way, it's not fair to you to lose a throughaway just because we changed the races around. We should just run it like we have in past years.
1) Everyone gets more than one chance to qualify.
2) Everyone gets the chance to win big and make some movement in the points.
3) No one has to sacrifice a through away to race on Sunday only.
4) NO computer guggling to get heats and mains running properly.
My suggestion is that we put everyone in pancar who will not be there for Sarturday in their own separate heat. This will eliminate the traffic problems between them and those who have a full day of running already on the track. This should give them a decent chance to qualify where they normally would and not affect anyone else who already has.
Don't forget, the whole purpose of this being a double points event is the risk. It can be the "upset" that some of us need to get back into the battle, or be the buffer needed to relieve the stress of close points. It is supposed to be like "Double jeopardy", its the race to do good in if you want to win the series.
As for the number of qualis, if you don't like don't run in them, Qualify Saturday and then just run the main on Sunday. Simple as that. Besides, if anyone is having a bad day, they will greatly appreciate the extra chances to get into the A...I know I will.
This is JMO, but I would prefer to keep things simple for the weekend and enjoy it the way it is.
