Honestly the worst Winter Nats I was ever at was in 2007. Saturday only 2 quallies could be run, one round starting at 8am and then next starting at like 4 in the afternoon. For most of the day everyone sat around while the RD messed around on the CPU. I do not know what happened but I believe Budha was the RD (not blaming him for anything, but when he was RD there were problems too). But I still had fun in 2007, that is why I returned.

This year just by running and getting done by 9pm every night and getting the 2 quallies and the lower mains done on Saturday, makes this years event by far the best I have been too. All I have seen is improvements since I started attending the Winter Nationals.

I don't get to go to the USA to race, having a wife and 2 kids at home and higher priorities than traveling down to the USA for racing.

Thank you Clutch Nutz for organizing an event where I got to run my Nitro's in Feb/Mar. I hope to see you next year at the Canadian Winter Nationals.

Oh and Jed that was a killer vid you put together. I really enjoyed that, especially seeing Phatty bounce off the Tile. LOL....Sorry Dan

Yeah Jed...great job on the vid. A bit too revealing apparently! I have enjoyed watching myself bounce off the tile many times...

And Revonator....I was testing the integrity of the barrier system. It passed!

....the Westerner would not let the Club use the same dirt as last year. So they made them use the sandy stuff.
That explains it! Meh - the slick track was challenging and fun

The layout was really fun...one of the best IMO...

Later,

I have made it to 5 of the 6 winter nats and every year I look forward to the next year to come. I remember the first year when Delmo was putting this event on and how it has changed and grown since then. It is a nice break in the winter to go and burn some nitro, not all of us can afford to go down south to race. This year I am hopping to make it to the alberta tracks this year to go and race. I thank all the people who are involved in planning and making this race happen year after year, hats off to you. Good job and keep up the excellent work.

I would like to thank the Clutch Nutz for putting on this event. It must have kept a few of you up at night. No small feat getting everything lined up and then of course the last minute oh crap I forgot about that stuff going on. I am just getting over my cold and i am breathing better now.
This was my first Winternats and i certainly enjoyed the event. I learned a few lessons a respirator will be #1 and dress warmer. I also learned dont take your eyes off your equipment (my buddy had his Trucks stolen out of the back of my truck while loading).
I have been following the thread and can say I have never been to a race in the US or even one of this size before. The fact that it happened and went off in a timely manner and were able to get 4 qualy's run plus all the mains and be done by 5:00 pm Sunday I think is impressive. I have been involved in big events before in other functions and I know how much work it takes and oh the meetings. So the time and dedication put in to this should be commended.
Nobody gets paid to organize these things and things and our gratitude is the only reward they get. What incentive is there to go out therer and do it again if you are ridiculed for a few oversights.
It's supposed to be fun.
I know I sure had some laughs.
Just wish I drove better.
Great Track design.
Good Luck to you Clutch Nutz

AWESOME JOB guys.

Too bad there are so many whiners about things. Like the decision on Saturday to run one round of quallies....enough people cried and they changed it. Again thier final decision. Too bad there are so many people that think they know how it should be run, but are not on the organizing committee.
This is the comment that started the whole gong show in this thread. I went back through to see where it started, and this is it. Up to that point there were some questions, but nothing but kudos to the club for their hard work.

No one is disputing the amount of work that goes into running a race of this magnitude, just differing opinions on what the race should be. Some thought the race was fine, others thought it could be so much more. Is either wrong? No. The race lived up to the expectations of some and not others. Nuff said.

I'm going to lock the thread down now, because there is nothing more constructive coming out of it. Thank you Clutch Nutz for taking on this task called the Winter Nats and hopefully we'll see you at this race again next year.
