Hey Roy,

Point series is exciting just like F1 world. So who's going to be the next World Champion?.

Point series may happen this year. Lets vote on it and see.

Classes perdicted so far.

Novice (17.5/27t ) Rubber tires/sedan bodies.
This class is only for newbies to the hobby. We have the rights to bump any racer to stock as performance progressed and fit for stock level guys.

Stock (27t and 17.5) Rubber tires/touring sedan bodies only.

Super Stock (13.5 brushless only) Foam tires/touring sedan bodies only.

Batteries are opened for all manufactures except for industrial non labled type which is not allowed.

Lipo cells charging will required lipo sacks and all have to be hard case.

There'll be more info to come.

Just wondering if there is going to be a class for tamiya mini's. Lots of new cars have been purchased lately from Indy Hobbies. This looks to be a great spec class.

Default super noob

I'm really interested in joining you guys but need a bit of help on what a good car would be to start out with. I went to the overgeared site but the racing 101/starting up link was under construction. I'm not sure what hobby shop the track is close to and what cars they stock parts for. Would a Associated TC4 or HPI Pro 4 be what I'm looking for?

I have a Savage(picco .28) and a Mini Baja, I know you don't race Savages and not sure about the minis but I do have a bit of RC experience.

Hey there Soho...

We run Stock, 19, 12th scale and mini's (if there is interest) at our club events.

You can Run a TC4 if you have one...But if you are thinking of getting an AE car, the TC5 is the one to get.... The closest Hobby stores to the track are Indy Hobby and Golden horizon. Or you can check out apollo hobbies (located in Burnaby).

We will be racing in Chilliwack this weekend for our annual Big Chill R/C event. Come look for us if you are in town.

After the Chill OverGeared will be starting it's winter season racing in Richmond.

Hope to see you at the track.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into the TC5's. Do you think it would be wise for me to go straight to brushless even though I'd be novice? I noticed there isn't a novice brushless class. I've read good things about them being easy to maintain and it would save a bit of money if I went brushless right away instead of later on.

The mini class is the Mini Z right? Not something for my Mini T..

I have no loyalty to any company, AE was just one that came to mind so I used it as an example. If there is another manufacturer/car that is considered to be a better deal I'm all for it.

I understand now that 17.5 is the brushless. So much info to take in trying to get the right setup with almost 0 electric experience.

I'm going to try and get setup for the start of the Richmond season, so I have my work cut out for me

So far I plan on running TC5, 17.5 brushless. Now I just need to decide on a radio, servo, receiver, esc and a charger.. Oh well, I never liked money anyway.

Nimh only correct? no Lipo's?

HI Soho,

I'm just going to answer some of your questions here.

- Lipo are allow as long as you charging it in a LiPo sack and a proper LiPo charger. (it's just for safety)

- The mini class is refers to Tamiya mini, you'll see once you come out for the first time.

- Brushless is actually better for new drivers, put in the motor once, and never look at it again...

- TC5 by far is the least expensive car on the market today, so the choice is good.

- no worries about the setup, we have at least a couple of team driver for TC5, I'm sure they are happy to help you out with the setup.

- now for the radio gear... it really depend on how much you want to spend. It can be as little as $150 and as much as over $1,000. Take your time and see what you need instead of what you want.
