Sorry to bombard you guys with questions.. but I have another. Is the track or any other track available for practice on non race nights? I tried searching for any info on this but came up short.
Another question came up in conversation today at Indy Hobbies.....How much is the entry fee per class? max classes? and the last 2 posted questions as well......anybody?
Just thought I would give you all a heads up on our up coming Mid-Winter Challenge race held hear in Kamloops on the new date: February 27th, 28th & March 1st, 2009. We have a brand new venue this year and are very excited about it. Our race will be held at the "Tournament Capital Center" which is an awesome new facility which sports an Olympic sized indoor track, swimming pool and other sporting arenas. Calling our race will be the voice of the Tamiya National Championships, Mr. Doug Papka. All the usual Touring Car, Pro-10 and 12 Scale classes will be offered at this indoor Carpet event.
More details as we get closer to the date so look out for a thread to be started on this website.
Thanks for your time and we hope to see you all there.

I'm looking at picking up a car to race this winter. To be honest there really doesn't seem to be much banter within the community as far as where to race, turnouts of racers and what classes are being run.
Vancouver used to have a big race scene and vocal participants but it seems like pulling blood from a stone at the moment.
Being based downtown I understand that I might have to get out to places like Richmond to race but I was hoping to get a bit more direction from hobby stores to clubs and the racer community at large.
I've had the same experiences while looking into racing.... some of the Hobby Shops around the area are so specialised(sp?) with either off road or drifting or crawling or even "so we carry everything but know nothing", that nobody realy wants to promote racing. The only shop that I personaly have found that wants to promote newcomers to the hobby is Indy Hobbies in Richmond. Ken is a nice guy and is practicing his english, he has helped me return to the hobby after a 14 year Retirement and a move to Vancouver from Ontario. There is a good group of guys that are around there all the time that are happy to answer questions and give their opinions, they also get together on Sundays during the summer to just set up a track and practice running Nitro and Electric Touring and Play with Tamiya Mini's. I've found this to be so much fun, and when you do get to race competitively it makes racing much more enjoyable. The overgearedracing.com Crew that ran the Big Chill Race in Chilliwack were also very helpfull to somebody new to the area. I've been to other shops in the area that do have knowledgeabe staff but because they aren't into racing or all they do is tell you to check the internet.
I realise that websites take time and energy and i commend the groups that are trying to keep up with updating information while trying to have a life outside of working and racing. But there are very few up to date sites for this area. RC Tech is the best resource i've found for racing in the area.
Come out to the races tomorrow, and just start asking questions. Everyone is friendly.
Big Gord, I've had the exact same thing happen. after 15 years out of the game I'm back and call me eager but I am keen to get out and enjoy some racing. Unfortunately I'm not going to be in town this weekend to check out the track but I would love to know what classes are popular as I'm thinking about picking up a tamiya Mini to race on carpet.
But only if there is a class where I can run against the same...
