CORCS National Final - Edmonton
Let's try this again .................. without all the politics. The intent of this thread is to promote the final and answer any question pertaining to this race.
1-The race is being held in Edmonton on Aug 29/30/31 at SICES Raceway
Aug 29 is open practice & registration - I will be there to take your money!
Aug 30 we hope to pull off 4 rounds of qualifying
Aug 31 is main day
2- We would perfer everyone pre register for this event on rcsignup.com as there have been issues with the corcs site in the past but if you have registered there all is still good
3- We will have power in the pits. RCRE has been able to secure 4/5 6000watt generators - thanks Ken
4- RCRE will have a canteen on site serving hamburgers, hotdogs, smokies etc. as well as pop, water, chips ** no breakfast will be served - sorry Annette can't make it this year **

Chongo - The travelodge is about 10 minutes from the track - good choice
Scott - The only real change to the track since the rc pro series race is the exit to pit lane - you flow back onto the track now instead of having to turn onto the track. I'm not going to lie .........this track is rough. The suface isn't coming up or anything like that, but you'll definately notice this is off road!!
If you asked a question on the old thread pertaining to the race itself and did not get an answer please ask again and I will respond.

Matt - Practice will run till 9:00p.m. possibly 9:30 after that it gets dark and safety becomes an issue.
Kevin - Yes camping is available as in years past - no hook ups - please set up in the same area as before.
Something I forgot to mention in the previous post is regarding the pit area this year. Due to the potenially larger crowd for this event all pit tents must be set up inside the yellow 1/2 fence (south side of track) or in our standard pit area (west side of track). NO pitting in the parking/camping areas.
A couple of other things to note in regards to this topic
-pit spaces (stalls) are based on the posts holding up the chainlink fence on the west side of the track. A pop up tent fits perfectly between these posts.
- the 3 pit spaces directly to the right of our mini seacan are RESERVED for event organizers if you set up there you will be asked nicely to move your tent.
- no pitting what so ever in the space to the left of the mini seacan - that space is reserved for the canteen.
- No vehicles will be allowed in the pits
I will be at the track Thursday night by 6:30 p.m. along with others to help direct traffic for all you early birds.

Steve, are we teching everyone or just top 3 after the mains? Just to let you all know its for a TRD (Throttle Return Device). Make sure you have something that works.

Hey Steve, can I just show up on Sunday and race?!?! Haha just kidding. I have to see you on Saturday because it has been quite some time sinc we have raced each other and I have to not only beat you but out qualify you. Maybe I will get the girlfriends buggy ready to and she can give you a run for your money. Just bugging buddy.

RE pitting in the camping area, if you are camping are you allowed to set up your pits at your camping area, or do we need to set up pits on the other side of the barrier?

Nathan - We will be teching for TRD in the mains only. Top 3 finishers and the 2 bump up spots.
Kane - I'm not worried. To be called a racer you need to do more than just pre-reg for an event - you actually need to race!
Gary - As it stands we want to do much like what Calgary's done the last few years and keep the pitting to inside the track area so to answer your question you must pit inside the barriers.

Only 20 days left to register for this event folks.
I would like to ask all you guys/gals that are planning on running in either of the electric classes please take the time to register sooner than later. We want to get the trophies on order and need know if there will be enough entrants to run the classes.
Did I mention that every driver will receive a stylish 2008 CORCS national final "limited edition" ball cap upon payment of their race fees?

Darn, I wish I could make it to the event...
Somehow, when you come in last but receiving some article of clothing makes it all worth it!

I hear yah, I think I'm getting a cap.........LOL
Thanks for your input svengali.
It would be nice to have a bunch of us staying at the same hotel. For the out of towners looking at this option, where are you guys staying.
Does anyone have experience with any of the Sherwood Park hotels, all I found out online is find a better place.........LMAO
Also I might be in need of a pit person (see quote above..lol), so if any one is available to pit me in Sportsman buggy it would be appreciated.

If your coming from the south, take the Anthony Henday Dr. East, go until you hit the off ramp to sherwood park FWY, take the off ramp to go west, then you need to take the 17st/76ave exit, follow that road, take your first left, you will go past a driving range, keep going till you come to an old school. We are behind the old school's gim. you can't miss it.
As for tires, Truggy - BT, lugs or CF, as for buggy, I don't know as I don't run it.

There is a map on the rcre website - www.rcracersedmonton.com
As for buggy tires is the usual bowties, crimes, lugs and the losi eclipse work great too.

I must say, I had a blast racing on Edmonton's track at the RC Pro Series event. Make sure you have some soft springs kickin' around! The layout is technical, but relatively easy to drive if you find the right groove.
All you Revo dudes out there, if you'd like any setup help or suggestions at the Nationals, feel free to give me a shout.
