I thought we didn't race GTP (Grand Touring Prototype) at DTP as the idea was to appeal to the crowd who visit the show? Those guys are mostly into tuner cars and our touring cars and minis are something they recognise and might help draw some of them into the hobby.

Although, that said, if you do run it, it's 12th and 10th together? 4 cell in each then?

Stu, the DTP race is part of the CARCAR Summer Series....there are 4 classes for the series, Touring Stock, Touring Superstock, GTP(10 pan and 12th together stock motors-6 cell 10 pan and 4 cell 12th) and Tamiya Mini....this was all discussed at the spring AGM and voted on by the members in attendance.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the AGM although I did send my apologies, but I hadn't seen anything from the meeting so did not know.

Minutes available to read anywhere?

1 other thing, still 3600 mah limit on Mini cells?
I'm having a hard time finding a replacement for the one that blew up on me.

Stu, mini rules are still the same even though the 3600 Intellect in an unmatched state seem to be a problem......I beleive that some of the Tamiya rules have changed recently....I will check on the TCS rules and see whats going on.

like this you mean : F- LIPO batteries are legal for the following classes: F103-GT, GT-1, GT-2, GT-3, MINI and 4WD-Off-Road.

Although, they also say this :

12. New for 2008: The use of LIPO batteries is now permitted in this class, but due to the battery compartment having a rounded profile, the only legal LIPO for this class is the Orion/Peak 3200 Carbon Edition hard cased pack. Modifying the M-chassis to fit other hard case LIPO batteries is not permitted.
13. New for 2008: All M-chassis cars must meet a minimum weight of 1300 grams.

NOT that we have to follow them to the letter.
here's a link to the newest rules:

Stu....thats what I was talking about. It is hard to keep up with all of the rule changes in the various classes......Mini is supposed to be a fun class that guys do not need the latest and greatest gizmos and gadgets to be competitive. We will leave the batt rules the same for now and if we continue to see cell failures with the 3600 we can discuss a possible change.

On another note.....a few guys asked about running the F103GT Tamiya cars in the GTP class.......If guys want to run them just make sure you follow the class rules for motors......F103GT cars could run rubber or foams for tires. You must run a GTP style body like the Courage body it comes with....no touring car bodies.

Tom....thanks dude.....see you soon.

Roy....setup is going to be friday evening...we do not have an exact time yet but should be around 5 or 6pm....saturday we will be in around 9oam but I am trying to nail down an exact time.....hoefully earlier so that we can get some practice time in on the track and finalk setup stuff. I will post the exact schedule when I know for sure. We will run at least 3 qualifiers and then single mains. Mini should be a big hit in front of the tuner crowd.

Yo D,
I should be there ok, I might run Mini though instead of one of the TC classes just to make sure there are enough to make the class go.
We'll see how the numbers go.
