Wow, and you guys thought I was late now, if we're starting at 6am I'll never be there!

Looks great guys, wonderful job. I like the calendar, and the points series and race results right there are great. It'll save a lot of posting and we can just link to the CarCar.ca website for people to see the results. One day if we get internet at the HSC we could link the AMB system to thier site and you could even see and analyze all your practice laps!

Looking great! Thanks for all the hard work guys!

Josh, you could do that now with a $40 wireless router. No internet required, just a private network in the building where the Scoring Pro results are shared.

For the Bankers Hall Set up fundraiser between RC GEARS and CARCAR, we have 16 people. We need 6 more. If you can do it, please let me know ASAP. As Josh has posted up, we have quite a few things to pay for and this is something that will move that time frame forward a little bit.

Josh
someone has to have a rocket stick from rogers or similar... or did everyone blow the budget on RC?

I am a windows noob =/ but we should be able to tether the laptop off a mobile phone now that its from this millennium..

Someone below posted we need a router, but we should be able to (i may have inadvertently) enabled wifi so that the real time stuff is available... does the rc software have a webserver built in or does IIS need to be installed or something?

maybe one of the winblows gods can make that work fully (and secure it if required?)... I only got as far as needing to reboot on step 2.... maybe its just working, maybe not...

I think we're talking about 2 different things.

1. Wifi broadcast inside the building. Yes, we've done this before on the old laptop and if anyone who knows how to set it up, please contact one of the exec. I donated a wifi router, it's sitting right behind the laptop, (or maybe with this laptop as it has wifi built in we don't need it?).

2. Uploading practice and race lap times to AMB's website. This would require an internet connection at the HSC, or a rocket stick, or tether to a cell. If someone wants to donate thier cell/rocket stick for the evenings, we certainly could do that, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be a permanent thing so we'll just have to hold off on this one. It's working great just taking the results and posting them, I'm not sure how many people would actually analyze thier practice lap times at home.

Thumbs up SUNDAY RACING!!!

GREAT NEWS! SUNDAY RACING AT CARCAR!

The exec has been working on this for almost 2 months, and we're happy announce:

CALGARY INTER-CITY ENDURO RACE!!!

This will be a super fun day of racing, teams of 3, randomly selected at the beginning. Lots of classes, HOT PIT STOPS , transponder relay with everyone driving thier own car/radio. Battery strategy, pits stops, etc will all play a factor! Formula 1 RC racing anyone!

Karz (Brad & Jim) have been involved in the planning, and the first date of Nov 15th doesn't conflict with any of thier dates. We'll be hosting the first race, with a full invite to Karz, and Karz will host the next, and so on.

This is great for people that can't get out Friday nights, and will be a great opportunity for those guys from out of town to travel in and get a full day of racing!

Here's the details:

Sunday Racing
1. Classes (in schedule order): Tamiya Mini Oval, TC Stock, Pan (WGT 1/10 & 1/12) Stock, CORR (Slash with OEM tires?) or TC Superstock?, Tamiya Mini Road Course. We're going to try an oval track for the Tamiya Mini (sacrificial lambs ), and if it goes well we'll do it for the other classes as well. If not, we'll go back to a normal track. The tentative classes (CORR class, TC Superstock, etc.) are based on registration numbers.
2. Schedule: Open at noon, Reg closes at 1:15, Drivers meeting at 1:30, racing 2-6pm (1 hour per class, depending on the number of classes) Edit: This first race will start at 2pm to accomodate and encourage volunteering to help with the lights at Bankers Hall.
3. Fees: $30/team ($10/person) for every class (no discount for second class). No limits on number of classes.
4. Teams of 3: Randomly drawn from registrants at 1:15pm.
5. Races are 24min (approx 8 min each driver, should work for all cars and batteries), then open practice until the next round.
6. Transponder relay. Time doesn’t stop, teams must pit and swap transponder to new car. To protect transponders it must be mounted inside body with clip through body. PT's will need to be disconnected.
7. Marshalls, just like a normal race, the class before marshalls, but because you have 3 per team, most likely you can switch off marshalling duties.
8. Seperate from Friday night racing, doesn't compete with CarCar Friday nights as no points toward championships
9. Alternating between CarCar and Karz: Enduro-intercity racing!
10. We could roll out more of the carpet just for that day, to make the track even bigger?
11. We're working on having food on site, chips, pop, etc. If anyone has a gas BBQ they don't mind bringing, we could have burgers & dogs!

Feel free to chime in if you've got any other suggestions. We're really excited about this, the 2 clubs running together, generating more excitement and exposure for RC.

If you've got any friends that are interested in trying it out, or any RC guys from out of town, this is a great chance to get out! It will be a much more relaxed pace than our normal Friday nights, and I'm really looking forward to the Enduro transponder relay type race!

Josh
