It is with great pride and joy that I can now disclose that I am the Roar Canadian National Director. I have been in dialogue with Roar for over a year and Roar has come to the conclusion that Canada's racers do matter and decisions have been made to that direction.
With that being said Canada has now immediately available at least 4 guaranteed slots for any Ifmar World Championship Event if Canada holds a Canadian National championship. This is for Off Road and On Road. There can be an increase of up to a total of 10 guaranteed slots for Ifmar Events for Canada as Roar membership is increased. These extra slots will come by increments as Canadian Roar memberships increase.
Also I would like to take this opportunity to put a non truthful statement about Roar's Liability Insurance to rest once and for all!
The Roar Liability Insurance is good for 100% of all North America. With Roar being a 1/4 member of the Ifmar Block, this is a requirement of Roar for its racers, tracks, to compete at Ifmar World Championship Events. This Roar Liability Insurance is good for all racers, tracks, and Clubs that are Roar members.
I am now taking applications for Roar Regional and Canadian National races for Off road and On road for next spring and summer from interested tracks and Clubs. The 2007 Canadian National races will qualify at least 4 slots to any Canadian racer for 2008 Ifmar World Championship Events.
Application forms for racers, tracks, or Clubs for Roar memberships can be downloaded at www.roarracing.com.
Also if any RC distributors wish to sponsor any of these up coming Canadian Roar races please contact me.
It is my hope that someday in the near future Canada will be able to crown a Ifmar World Champion!
GREAT work Don. Good job bringing ROAR back into Canada. You can count me in on supporting this organization and signing up as a member And I don't want to hear anyone complain about having to spend $30-50 on a years membership when these same people won't bat an eye at dropping $2000+ on a RC vehicle This is Canada's chance to show the rest of the world that we are just as serious about racing as they are. Plus this will give at least 4 of Canada's fastest drivers a chance to show what the're made of against the Worlds fastest competition in 2008 at the "WORLDS" at the FARM 2 in the US!! I'll be there chearing everyone on
By the way, this is Richard Infanti on my nephews computer in Kelowna
what exactely is the benifit of being with roar. do tracks, cars, racers, etc... have to be approved by roar? is this just a governing body?if i'm not roar and want to race at a track that is roar, will i be prevented from doing so?never paid attention to roar before because it made no difference here in canada. some clarification would be great. also does this automatically get rid of corcs? thanks
First of all, let me begin by saying that I think that having a sanctioning body that allows or makes room for the top Canuks at the Worlds is great and the extended insurance is a plus too. I do have a couple of questions though:
1. What type of "on track" support can a club that is hosting a Regional or National event expect from the Canadian or North America arm of ROAR?
2. Can not anyone with $$$ attend a Worlds' event as long as they have the $$$ to travel and pay for the event, provided there are spots open after the different regions fill or don't fill their quota?
Thanks for your enquiries. Here are some answers for you.
Roar is an organization for racers in North America (us and canada). It is 1/4 member of the Ifmar Block that controls World Championship Events. The other Ifmar members are EFRA (europe), FEMCA (far east), FAMAR (south america and south africa). Each of these members is allowed World Championship Events on a rotating basis.
Benefits of Roar membership:
1. Racers, tracks, Clubs will be part of an organization that has a developed, established and recognized set of rules for RC racing in North America (except 1/18 scale which are being addressed).
2. Being a Roar member will allow a racer to compete at any Roar Sanctioned Event in North America.
3. Being a Roar member will allow tracks or Clubs to bid on and host Roar Sanctioned Events. These events range from Class 1 (club races) up to Class 5 (national championships). Within the next rotation of the Ifmar Block(4 years) Canada will be allowed to bid on to hold Ifmar World Championship Events.
4. Being a Roar member means that racers, tracks, Clubs will have Liability Insurance Coverage with out having to go the private route which can be very expensive.
NOTE *** A Roar track or Club can stop you (a racer) from racing at their facility if you are not a Roar member.***
EX....(You are not allowed to drive your car on the roads without insurance and that is why the police stop you from driving on the roads without insurance, to protect all parties from litigation if an accident happens).
5. Being a Roar member will allow you the racer the opportunity to qualify to race at Ifmar World Championship Events.
To answer your last question regarding CORCS all I can say is that we are completely different entitys. I am no longer a CORCS Director and I don't speak for them anymore.
I wanted the opportunity to allow Canadian racers, tracks, Clubs to have a chance to go to Ifmar World Championship Events and eventually maybe hold a Ifmar World Championship Event. If the racers, tracks, and Clubs of Canada can get a hold of this vision this can only be a win/win situation for Canadian RC racing on the World Stage. We now have the vehicle to take us there and allow our best racers and tracks shine on that World Stage!
I am not 100% up to date with ROAR, but some questions from the past...
1) what are the membership costs per person? are single event memberships available?
2) what are the CLUB membership $$ You MUST be a ROAR club to have the insurance coverage. AND every racer must be a member as well. I do think that this means, no one can drive, marshal or be involved in the event unless they are a member of ROAR (pit people as well)
3) is there a "pre-pay" needed (to ROAR) to host a sanctioned event? As was the case years ago.
4) can a driver still apply in writting to participate at the worlds? If there was no ROAR pre-qual in his/her region.
5) who are the directors for the rest of canada and, how have the regions been split?
I will be watching this thread with great interest, as you know don, I had my stint as a ROAR. director several years ago. I hope you get the support.

BRUSHED all the WAY!
"racing since the 80's an XRAY was something you needed when you broke a bone."
Thanks for the enquiries. The easiest thing for you guys to do would be to go to the Roar site. Its not fully updated to the new agreements that I accomplished with Roar for Canada .... will be soon....but you can see all the necessary answers that you required including membership costs and National guidelines for races and you can download what you need.
Then I don't have to retype a book myself....LOL....
As to divisions as Roar membership grows Canada will eventually have 3 regions (west, central, east).
As to who the Regional Reps will be I'm in the process of getting ready to approach some people for these positions. Please bare with me on this matter as I just accepted this position and I want to take some time to have the right people (Reps) in place so that Roar Canada and its members will be proud of what we are achieving and want to achieve in the future. This is imperative for success!
BC, Alberta , Saskatchewan ,
Yukon and the Northwest Territories
Are no longer part of region 1 we are now
Part of region 11 with Washington, Idaho, Montana
Oregon and Alaska and region 1 now has
Connecticut , Maine , Massachusetts , New Hampshire , New York ,
Rhode Island ,Vermont and Eastern Canada and Nunavut in it
So Canada is no longer a separate region so how would this work?
The Roar site has not been updated yet as I said in my earlier post. Canada is now one separate region with Canada having its own Nationals for Ifmar Qualification purposes. I just recieved the go ahead last tuesday night!
If you have any questions John just email me and I'll do my best to answer you until the Roar site is updated.
I was interested to read about this, I had heard stories of ROAR being here previously, and it not being entirely successful.
It reads like this could cost the individual some more money, and unless willing to do a lot more travelling, would not benefit them, other than insurance.
Sell this to us Don, it sounds like it might be good for the top 2 or 3 guys in the country, but I suspect nothing in it for Joe Average racer, as well as meaning most guys would have to travel a lot of kms.
Don....I like what you are trying to do....keep up the great work, it will be a long hard road for sure.
If you need anything, let me know......Dwayne Flodell

Your help is greatly appreciated. I'll keep in touch for sure. Anything I can do to help please contact me. I definitely want to see Canadian On Road racing do the same as Off road. This is a new start for Canada to finally get on board.....across the board literally!
I'm sorry I missed your post between catching up with others. As to travelling
to a race, need I need to tell you that Canada is 4000+Km across. This year I'm trying to set up Eastern Canada and Western Canada Regionals for Roar. The Roar Nat's Final will be in Western Canada his year. I'm sure that you'll be able to attend a Roar Race Sanctioned Event either in Western Canada or Eastern Canada if you want to be a part of Roar and chase a Ifmar slot for a World Championship .
Roar is an opportunity for racers to excell and be the best they can be. If you are a "C " or lower main racer then your probably as you say whats in it for me. If you are so worried about the $$ difference ($35.00) to join Roar ( help your local track with everything insurance included) then its obvious you don't have Canadas, my dream and Roars dream to send our best to the World Championships Events.
It costs money to compete and be the best....I know that I will probably never get to an Ifmar Worlds Event as a driver ( I have dreams....but....) I'd be stoked if in some way I could get a Canadian racer qualified if he was a Club or Track Roar Canadian member.
Stulec52, I hope you understand what I wrote without taking offense. This is what Canada needs to do to come together for the best for RC racing to see World Championship aspirations for Canada.
