I just found this thread and am enjoying the flashbacks to 'those' days.
RIP
Hobby Bench - Covina
Off road, oval, and at one time they even built a huge brick pond (in the parking lot) and raced RC boats.
Does the Peterson Automotive Museum count? They used to have 1/12th scale racing in the parking structure but no hobby shop that I recall. First place I ever saw R/C car racing with Clausen and Lavico dueling for the win.
There used to be a track in Bloomington that did drag racing...it was located in a 'western' themed shopping center next to some big discount piano store on Valley Blvd. Both are gone now. Anyone remember what it was called?

Closed in 1990 to make it into...an auto auction?!!

The RC track was located on the north end of the lot. Actually, there was an arcade, batting cages, and a go cart track (maybe mini golf as well?). Nothing is left...

Try Ultimate Hobbies @ 950 N. Tustin Ave in Orange, CA. They were racing Mini Tamiya 4wd today.

One Stop Hobbies is the first place I raced, they started with a dirt Oval with offroad track inside of the Oval. I raced a Frog and a Monster Beatle there, that is how long ago that was. They then conveted to a paved banked oval. Ran the RC 10L then. Dang I am old.

Do you know of any spots that are good to go to that are not tracks? That are preferably free? I do want to check out some of these spots, but don't want to pay every time I want to take my truck out. I am in Fontana by the way
