for those of us who use asphalt to get to our dirt tracks, what are the quick/dirty rules on the cars themselves (other than the 3 points mentioned above)?

Default USTVA

the roadrunners r/c club has about 12 to 15 vta cars being built for 2013 season. we are going to be running with the rules from ustva site. these are tried and tested rules that are raced everywhere as writen. if you stick to the rules already out there and not change everything to meet your needs. keep to rules simple and it will make for better racing at more sites with equal speeds.
if there are to many variations of rules - the class will die out, because nobody will know what to run.
just my 2 cents.

thanks
bill

You are already tweaking the VTA rules by allowing "slicks", and 21.5T motors. This is exactly what the class is trying to avoid.

Trans Am may finally hit California....

The motor and esc and tires are all things that we decided on from issues that came up in the past. They work for the vast majority of tracks out there. I respect the fact that there are variations out there, and I have seen everything from 21.5 2s still out there to a group who runs any 17.5 and 1s lipos. Nothing wrong with that. If it works, and it's fun, then it's all good.

Good luck

Hey Murray,
Its a '71 Penske Javelin Driven by the late Mark Donohue, the two of them were BAD A** MOFO's! I remember see them at Riverside Raceway back when I was a kid. And dont get me strted on the Penske Matador

Did Bob Novak put you on the payroll or what?

1. 21.5 Blinky/No Boost
2. Any HPI Vintage Wheels and Tires
3. The rest refer to USVTA

I agree with you but at this time most racers have said they will not spend money for another motor and speedo.

All of these racers have Blinky Non Boost type speed controls and 21.5 motors.

They all have no problem buying a body, wheels and tires.

I say let's race them.

maybe stick with the treaded vintage tires? this way you can visually see immediately that the tires are legal.

Perfect. Perhaps we can get Jeff @ Speedtech to add this to a GCR sometime soon!

Roadrunners are going to race the classic rules as they are writen. i think if you want to revive a class from the past , you'd follow the rules so everyone could go race at any track offering VTA. it's not that much more for a speedo and motor combo and you are in line with the rules. what's next after 21.5 - 17.5 or 13.5 boosted with vintage bodies. i just saying stick with the rules and have fun.

why not call your class "ROAR - Vintage Trans Am".
your rules fit ROAR perfectly.
i'm just saying stick with a set of rules and don't change them, then there's no question what is legal.

thanks
