8 minute race!
Steve W. was telling me that in Japan they run 8 minute races all the time, and that he would like to do a race somewhere (Tamiya or La Mirada) to see what kind of response it would get over here.
This kind of racing there would be a lot of strategy involved so your batteries will last! Start fast but then set a pace and have enough left in the end to hold off anybody challenging you. Plus , if you make a mistake or get caught up in that first turn tragedy there will be lots of time to catch the leaders and make a bid for a podium spot!
What does everybody think??? Anybody, anybody, anybody?????
Chris, Eeyan, Jasper, Izzy, ?????? Sounds interesting! Huh!

Japan has been running 8 minutes 23T and 8 minute 10T modifieds for years. I'm all for longer racing, because the race will not be won or lost in that first turn. There will be more strategies involved (how to gear a car, throttle control, battery management)
I don't think is a good idea to do 8 minute F201 though....plastic chassis will melt together after 8 min.

I like the longer races as well.
The only thing to consider is how hard those 8min runs were on the batteries the last couple years at Japan 23T Nats.
Even the best of the best realized that they could not use the same battery pack the same day. Battery rest was required.
Just bring some extra packs.
