Default Prepared New Body

I'm finally registered on RC Tech Froum!!!
It's been real fun on Wed. night @ Cal Raceway, so I've decided to finish up what I started. Though I'm still working on small details of wheels, alignments & etc....

Now I hope my new body is decent enough to race with everyone!

MAIN BATTLE BRACKET
Qualifying
Qualifying will be "street style" with 8 cars on the track. Each group of drivers will be allowed time on the track, and we will be calling drivers at intervals to qualify. A section of the track will be marked off and designated as the "staging area." When your name is called, you will pull into the staging area (so the judges can see which car we're watching) and once you get the "go" signal you will proceed to qualify. Each driver will run 2 qualifying laps continuous. Here's some driver and judging notes regarding the layout:

A. Driver note: Stay tight here to setup for the first scoring zone
B. Judging: Apex zone, standard clipping point
C: Judging: Clipping point for Zone 2 is the lower corner of the island
D. Driver note: Stay tight in this corner or your momentum might carry you off course
E. Driver note: Aim for a controller drift toward the outside wall
F. Driver note: Pick up speed here in order to make it through the straightaway
G. Judging: Car must be in mid-drift when entering scoring zone; note entry and exit speed
H. Judging: Car must be in mid-drift facing opposite entry angle
I. Judging: Car must return to original entry angle at the exit of zone
J. Driver note: Make sure you don't hit this wall, and cross the finish line without incident

The judges will want to see fast Entry/Exit speeds; higher is better. They want to see good drift angles; more angle is better. Finally, they want to see driver aggression/smoothness of driving; in other words, to see a good show we want to see aggressive yet controlled driving (both during the drift and transitions between drifts). There is such a thing as being too aggressive, and even if it's pushing the limit, it usually ends up looking sloppy. Stay smooth, but attack the course.

Once you are done qualifying, you may stay on the track and practice while other drivers in your group are qualifying. Make a note - all qualifying will be done WITH TRAFFIC so it's at your discretion how to time your attack AND it's not the fault of a non-qualifying driver if you can't get around them during your qualifying lap!

After qualifying the drivers will be split into the following:
- 1-15: seeded in the main battle bracket
- 16-below: lower bracket, chance to bump up to main battle bracket

Lower Bracket w/Bump Up
The lower bracket will go first. All drivers who qualified 16th and below will be placed in a single-elimination bracket and compete. The winner of the lower bracket will be "bumped up" to the main battle bracket in the 16th and final seed. Thus if you had bad luck during qualifying, you still have a chance to make it into the main bracket.

Main Battle Bracket
The main bracket will be a Best-16, with a Best-8 DOUBLE ELIMINATION format. In other words:

if you lose your first match in Best-16, you are eliminated.
If you win your first battle in Best-16 to make it into the double format, and from that point on will have you lose TWICE in order to be eliminated.

BONUS CHALLENGE
After the main bracket is done, we'll be doing the Bonus Challenge. The bonus challenge will be similar to our infamous "Max Out" contests, except for this event the challenge is the back straightaway switchback. After a brief warmup, the Bonus Challenge drivers will be put in order, and each one will have to go through the switchback. Anyone who crashes is eliminated. Anyone who doesn't attack it in our usual "Max Out" style will be eliminated. After every driver has cycled through, the surviving drivers will return to the starting line and we'll adjust the track lane to be narrower and narrower with each cycle. The challenge will get tougher and tougher the longer you survive. Last driver standing wins.

Concourse
Before qualifying begins, we will have a concourse competition for the best looking car entered in the event. This competition will happen during the group photo/driver's meeting. There is no fee for concourse, there will be a prize for best of show, and the usual RC DriftClub rules apply:

1. Only event competitors may enter the Concourse Competition for a chance at winning prizes.
2. The general criteria for a winning concourse vehicle is a combination of the following factors: quality of the paint job, use of color combinations, use of vinyl accents, originality of vehicle scheme (or accuracy of replica), scale detail, and overall execution
3. Motorized panels, engine mock-ups, light kits, simulated interiors, driver figures, external accessories, and other add-on details are permitted, but keep in mind that unless the “complete package” is presented, having just one or two of these “extras” will not necessarily give you the edge during Concourse Competition.
4. Concourse winning bodies must, at minimum, be used for qualifying on the same day that the body won the Concourse competition.
5. Bodies entered in Concourse Competition must be mounted on a running chassis. Chassis must have complete running gear, and should be capable of doing a ‘demo lap’ in case the judges want to see one.
6. Any chassis and body combination chosen as Concourse winner but not able to perform a demo lap will be disqualified.
7. Concourse competition is a vehicle competition; external “display” additions such as trailers, dioramas, or other non-vehicle scenery may be used but will not be a deciding factor when choosing a Concourse winner.
8. If our boy Alfonso enters, we wish the rest of you good luck. LOL

HOW TO SIGN UP
Event Entry Fees / Event Info
1. $20 entry for Open Bracket
2. $5 extra for Bonus Challenge (must be entered in open bracket)
3. Maximum entry limit of 40 drivers.
4. Entry fees may be prepaid via PayPal or cash only at the event.
5. There will be no refunds, credits, or transfers on any paid entries.
6. RC DriftClub reserves the right to refuse entry.

To sign up for competition, post up in this thread (DO NOT PM ME!) with the following info:

1. Full name (first name, last name)
2. Chassis brand/make
3. City you're coming from (if you're not SoCal make sure you let us know!)
4. If you're entering both classes (Open and Bonus) or just the Open Bracket class

To prepay, send your entry fee through Paypal to: [email protected]. If the name on the Paypal does not match your name (say, if a friend or parent paid) make sure you put in the notes who the entry payment is for. Entrants will be listed in order of forum posting.

Prepaid entries are guaranteed a spot, and will be moved up on the list. Those who haven't prepaid will be listed as well, but remember you will be bumped down the list if someone else prepays before you do. If we get 40 prepaid entries, then that's it - we won't be accepting cash entries the day of if we filled the 40 slots with prepaid peeps.

Questions? Post up. Again, no PM please thanks
