New track in Fremont is all new pavement. We are hoping to maintain the Rams race schedule but haven't had final inspection by the county yet. We will know more in the next week or so. For now things are going as planned.

Beginning with the June 7 race the RAMS club will no longer have a Baja/Autocross class. All other classes remain in place.

Open Letter from RAMS President
Open Letter from the RAMS President
It has been brought to the club's attention that there are concerns regarding the classes being run when the transition is made to racing at Warm Springs Raceway (WSR). Although WSR has restrictions on what types of vehicles can be run within its facility the RAMS club is not against running any class types within the RAMS organization. At any time the RAMS club may run races at the venue of its choosing as long as there are enough members taking part to cover the cost of the race venue as well as any other associated costs to conduct a race.
Over the years it has become increasingly difficult to find a location that is both suitable for RC racing and that would allow us to use the facility at an affordable cost. Mission College was a great choice for many years because of its physical layout as well as having a cost model that was within the financial limits of what the club could afford in terms of rental fees. Mission College due to the construction of Levi's stadium is no longer a viable option as open use dates are increasingly difficult to secure because of the stadium using the college lots for parking during events held at the stadium. These stadium events have priority use of the facility causing the college to no longer be logistically suitable for our needs.
We are fortunate enough to have a new permanent track opening soon and the RAMS will be using this facility for its 1/5 scale racing events. This new track is dedicated to the use of 1/5 scale purpose built on-road 2WD Sedan/GT, 4WD Sedan/GT and F1 classes. The facility does not allow any other types of vehicles to run and this limitation is not open for discussion as this is not a RAMS rule. WSR is not by any legal means related to the RAMS club. Because WSR is a privately owned facility unrelated to the RAMS club we as an organization are required to abide by the rules that WSR has put in place or we will not be allowed to use the facility. Just as we had to adhere to any rules that the college had for us we must do the same at WSR.
Due to lack of entries from other scales/classes the RAMS club has been exclusively running 1/5 scale classes for approximately 6-7 years now so this transition does not impact the current membership. The exception to this is the Baja class that is not going to be a class which will run at WSR. Although the Baja class will not run at WSR it could be run by RAMS at a different facility if there are enough entries to support a standalone race or a combined race with any other classes that will not be running at WSR (for example 1/8, 1/10 or 1/5 motorcycle). The number of Baja class entries has been low in 2015 and many of the members that raced Baja also raced other 1/5 classes but if you are a 2015 member that exclusively owns a Baja and would like to run 1/5 scale onroad at WSR please contact any of the club officers and we will do our best to help you locate an affordable vehicle to race. Alternatively if you exclusively raced In the Baja class in 2015 and do not wish to continue your membership due to this change the RAMS club will refund you the annual membership dues paid prorated by the number of remaining races.
We as a club are dedicated to providing the best experience possible for our members and to do so often times requires compromise. At this point in time the club believes the chosen path is the best possible choice for our current members while having the least negative impact on those that have chosen to be RAMS members for 2015.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me through the RAMS website or directly through the club.
Sincerely,
Steve Sanchez
