We had a good Mini turnout last nite. We had one new racer and two who were back for their second time. I'm getting closer to running on pace with the fast guys, namely TDK. Experimenting with the long WB on my MO5 and found that it will turn with the short and mid WB versions. Liked it a lot.
We need to get a few more of the 4WD Minis out. Don Barry had his new Atomic out for its maiden run and it looked very good. Sure is a good looking kit. May have to get one.
thx charlie was just about to do that. Fixed the other ones too.

Ran a few laps of practice today. New layout that's run counterclockwise. A little more technical than the last layout, but its as much fun. It's a great set up for Minis so bring them out. Should be some great racing and some fender banging.
Good, now those of us with 6 right C-hubs and no lefts will finally get to use those parts!
That's right. I bent the left steering knuckle on the left hander entering the straight along the wall. It's hard to gret that right and it does bring the "pucker" factor into play.

Isn't that backwards? I have lots of extra lefts steering knuckles. The snail-mail man should be bringing me a package, hopefully today, with my spares order because I was out of rights.
I might have to get a mini just so I can run the trifecta.
I had fun with the new layout. I got there late but i picked it up really quick. I made it up to 2nd, but broke. Ill be baaak! Thanx RB, Nick, and Kev.

A month a go or so I heard about an oval event on the carpet; when is this event scheduled? I heard it might be in 2 weeks?
I saw some posts that said there would be classes for us "normal" on-road guys to run; would this be sedans and/or 1/12th, etc? Would oval bodies be required, allowed?
Where can I get some info on what to plan for and maybe some hints on how to prepare the car for the event?
Would like to join in on the oval event.
Thanks

The Mini Main was a great race between Micheal and Lee for the top spot. TDK took the win over Lee by 0.4 sec. I found myself peeking at their race and whacking a few dots in the process. That's my excuse for this week and I'm sticking to it.
What happened to the new Mini guys??? You missed out on some great racing that was going on thruout the field. Mike Ricca and I were having a good race till he broke a steering upright. Yeah, it was one of the plastic ones. I started just behind him and beat him to the first corner which doesn't speak well for his reflexes. Just kidding Mike.
FROM OCRC OFFROAD THREAD, AND E-MAIL SENT FROM OCRC:
OCRC Update
Good news/Bad News
Bad News: The carpet track will be going away. Our Last club race will be on 11/14, however I will be working with Charley Barnes to continue our on road program on the side of our building 2x per month. (Saturdays)
The track area is 140' x 45 with scrubbed concrete high bite.
I wanted more then anything for this to succeed but unfortunately the original enthusiasm for a local carpet track has greatly diminished so I need to go in another direction that I feel would be more beneficial to the long term success of OCRC
Good News
We will be removing the wall between the on and off road tracks to enlarge our off road track by 35'. the new track size will be 60' x 125'
The construction will begin on 11/16.
We WILL NOT be closed while under construction, it will be practice and racing as usual. The plan is to have everything up and running on the new track by the end of November.
As Always
Peace
RB
Bummer, other obligations have prevented me from running on the carpet track lately, but always had a blast when I was able to make it. Oh well, the new off road track should be killer!
