Any of the F-1 Tamiya car guys interested in running on carpet? I tried my 103 out last monday and it handled great on the carpet with the same setup I used outdoors at the Tamiya track!! I've got to get a new speed control in it-- I can't seem to get full-power with the Tamiya unit in the car. I'm digging out an old Novak speed control from my 90's 1/12 scale cars to use!! It's just a brushed motor right? Should be compatible.

If mine and Cuda's work schedule allow it, I am sure we could make a class of it. I won't make it tonight because I am quite a ways away from the track and need a bit of warning so I can make the drive.
Carpet is unreal with these things, sooo much fun.
Actually, I'm using the same diameter tires you are on my fwd Mini. Most of the fwd Mini guys are using the 60mm tires tho. I just felt that the present speed differential was too great to make it much fun for the 4wd Minis. The closing rates on the straights is too great to make it safe for either one of us. Whatever you'd like to try is fine by me. It's a lot more fun if the cars are more closely matched for everyone concerned. One of the 4wd Mini guys is the one who suggested the change in gear ratios to make the racing more interesting.
That was me who made the suggestion to you. I do remember you saying that with equal gearing that the silver can motor is much faster than the black can motors. I only have the ABC series handout black can motor, otherwise I'm eager to give it a try.

Okay, it was a great suggestion. Moving over in a turn to let a faster car thru is one thing, but giving way on the straights is problematic. I've whacked the wall more than once trying to do that and broken more than one wheel or other parts in the attempt. Racing is a lot more fun if the cars are a little more equal in speed and the passing is done in the corners rather than one car just blowing another one off by 5-10 car lengths down the straight.
Put my ABC back together after a total tear down. This one has a nasty habit of "hooking" a corner on exit. I'll have ask you about that and see if you know a fix or what the problem might be. It really isn't much fun to drive.

Bob...if you want me to take a look, i will gladly get your car to stop hooking. It just needs a couple of adjustments.

Thanx CB. So far it's been a really frustrating experience. On corner exit it either hooks into the corner when accelerating or some times it squirts out away from the corner. Scary car to drive.
By the way, how do you like my use of highly technical terms to describe the handling characteristics of my ABC. I'm especially fond of scary.
Where did everyone go?????? Rebuilt my ABC and it was cured of most of it's nasty habits and no one shows up. There's at least another .5 sec in the car so I'm looking forward to seeing if I can extract it. I'll probably run my M05 next week as a couple of sets of steering wipers found there way to my workbench.
Mike D. and I had a great race for second with Mike hanging on to take the spot and Eric Long Gone was long gone. TDK had his struggles with the dreaded traction roll and Dangerous Don wasn't dangerous tonite. The 12th scale race was more like a very hi speed Mini race with all the bumping and banging and barrier walloping that went on. It wasn't pretty, but fun to watch. All in all a good nite. Too bad you guys missed all the fun.
Wish I could have been there; had to oversee a rough night of homework with my daughter. Got to see some of it on LiveRC; you and Mike had some back and forth. Planning on bringing the fleet on Sat, want to test a new 1/12th scale body.
