Tell that to the vet (a 15 yr old human is just a kid, a 15 yr old dog is a old dog)! BTW... he's scaling speed not time. Just picking on you Andy.

Carpet or asphalt, I'm in either way!

Tire Wars is much lower. At Socal raceway, Sorex 36 with thin firm inserts and stiff white dish wheels were the hot ticket for most and were usually fastest the first run and dropped off by as much as .5 sec lap after that run. If someone ran a new set, everyone else had too also in order to be competitive. Rubber tires on most carpet tracks can be rerun without any loss in lap times (for the most part, depending on track).
I think if the track were bigger, asphalt would be great. Although, because of the dimensions OC/RC is working with, Permanent Carpet would offer higher traction and the fastest way around the track.

P.S. Add me to the list of 1/12 scales.

Provide an permanent, indoor onroad track, carpet OR asphalt, and I will be there to race as much as possible.

I would love to see carpet, I love running foams, but not many racers out here are willing to learn/put in the time/effort to run on carpet and/or foams...

Asphalt would be great, too, especially something high bite, they way So Cal used to get on a good night.

Either way, there are clearly pros and cons to both, but provided you build it, I will race it.

For those of you who know me know that’s true

My neighbors move out of the warehouse 1/31/09 so nothing will happen until then

My intention is to in fact take the warehouse for On Road
Asphalt V Carpet? I am leaning towards carpet
RcHaulik, (The creator of this thread)

Maybe opening a permanant track in the Inland Empire (Chino, Ontario, or Rancho Cucamonga)might not be such a bad idea after all.

my vote asphalt! you can never have too many asphalt tracks. plus it would be easier on the newbies that would be joining us in the hobby.

I am perplexed about why they would go with Carpet but thats ok I will come to watch when I practice off Road I have never been a fan of carpet since the Indy 500, Le Mans, Rockingham, Sonoma, and on & on have all been asphalt tracks you know what I mean ? When did you see a real race car 1:1 scale race on carpet. Its suppost to be to scale and aspahlt doesnt change to carpet becuase it gets smaller

This kind of attitude is symptomatic of why there aren't more on-road track in the So Cal area. Thanks for your vote of confidence!

Hmmm, I don't remember a 2 cell Le Mans or Brushless Sonoma? And last time I checked the only single piston 2 stroke asphalt nitro car we ran had foams on it with lexan body and hole in the windshield. So how is RC on asphalt scale? Seems to me its just asphalt or carpet rc. I can't remember a belt drive full size car either? And last I checked my tires had air in them not foam inserts. Hmmm. So with that said, lets race carpet. Cause it sure is fun. Hoot hoot.

Swift- Look homie .......as long as I have been in this hobby and I think I have known you for that amount of time also. I have never.... ever..... ever ever ever seen you run anything other than a mini cooper! So why would you post something like that on this thread! On top of that when was the last time you even set a car on a track, in other words you don't even race. So you have to ask yourself does your opinion really matter? Dont post just to be posting brotha..... your better than that!

New Years Resolution- Think before you post!
They do make foams for minis you know!

Foams got my vote!
