12th scale- Rears, I suggest Jaco Prizm Yellow Compound or Jaco Prizm Orange Compound. Fronts, Jaco Prizm Double Pinks.
TC, Foam- I suggest Jaco Prizm Double Pink front and rear, and/or Jaco Prizm Magenta front and rear. Another popular (and less aggressive) combo is front, Jaco Prizm Double Pink/Orange and rear, Jaco Prizm Double Pink.
TC, Rubber- I suggest that racers wanting to run this class make a 'gentlemens agreement' for a 'spec' tire. This will keep costs down for everyone and put the focus upon setup and driving skills. It will also help the track groove to be consistent. Jaco Rubberz in the Blue Compound are popular, affordable and easily available. It was the spec tire last year at IIC/Vegas, and very likely that it will again be the spec tire again this year.
RCGT/World GT- I can't provide reliable information on these, as I don't run either class, but I hope someone else can offer some recommendations.
Traction Compound- Again, this needs to be a 'gentlemens agreement' if the host track doesn't establish a specific, house rule. I am recommending that Corally/Jack the Gripper traction compound be the only additive allowed for both rubber and foam tires. This will help to keep the traction consistent and nearly odor free.
Tire Truer- Those racers wishing to run foam tires, I suggest you true your tires to a proper starting size. But don't panic, no need to run out and purchase a tire truer; I have a truer of my own that I am willing to share and/or true tires for those just getting started. I have the required arbors for 12th scale, 10th scale and TC foam tires.
Obviously, I am very excited about getting a permanent carpet track in SoCal. I am not a carpet expert, but probably have more carpet racing experience than most in the region (being an east coast transplant). I hope everyone comes out to support OCRC, as many have promised you would if Robert 'built it'.
It should be an exciting summer as I expect to see a lot more SoCal guys in the mains at the IIC this year!
I've only raced on carpet a limited number of times myself but used old RP30s. With them being discontinued I'd think maybe the tire used at IIC was a good choice. I don't have any to try though. Still have Sorex36Rs, CS27s, and old RP30s.
RB, Thanks for going through with the carpet track. Also, Jay has a good idea here with his post. You really should address this (speak to someone with high experiance in carpet racig and long term effects to the carpet itself) before the track opens.
Traction Compound- .... a specific, house rule. I am recommending that Corally/Jack the Gripper traction compound be the only additive allowed for both rubber and foam tires. This will help to keep the traction consistent and nearly odor free.
"Jack The Gripper" is basicly odorless and works well on carpet. If other compounds are used they may create a strong permanent odor! I myself was fine with the smell of Paragon at the old SoCal but others disliked the smell. That was a strong odor considering the surface was not carpet.
I am stoked for an indoor onroad track!

Thanks to Robert, the Speedtech RCGT Showdown 2009.5 is coming to OCRC Raceway on June 6. We'll feature RCGT, 4wd mini, and F1's. Rules will be online shortly.

I have 4 sets of JACO blues from last years IIC. They worked well on the carpet and didn't show much wear. People going to Reedy might be able to pick up some slightly used sets.
Are you going to cut a hole in the wall between the two tracks, or will it be stand alone? Pits on carpet side, or share with offroad? Will the hobby shop be stocking any onroad parts (doesn't seem like the current shop has enough room to add onroad stuff)

I can't wait to hit the rug again, it's been way too long. I'm contemplating now on building a foam tire sedan as well, is anyone going to want to run some mod foam? McMoney, J, Scuba??

Well, I am definitely wanting to run some foam. Question is, will there be enough foams on a regular basis to run foams? BTW, a ballistic 13.5 foam car will almost match lap times with a mod foam car on this track...
Of course, there is always 12th scale for a foam fix and rubber tires for a TC fix...

I would almost prefer to run rubber tire sedan of some sort... less worry about tires/etc... but if everyone wants to run foam TC I would get something together for that.
Like I said I'd prefer rubber tc and 1/12 though
