Looking for a second class to add... Recommendations?
Hello all,
Looking to add a second class. Ran beginner with my 17.5 b5m and took second place behind a guy running a b44.3 and mod motor. Yes I'm excited about that! Yes I'm definitely hooked on racing. Looking to add a short course, stadium truck, or 4wd to my fleet. Any particular class/brand/setup that happens to be recommended?

"The Truth" is a great fun class. I expect Stadium truck to pick up with the 22T 3.0 just hitting shelves so that is always a great second class. OCRC typically has a strong mixed 2wd SC class as well so all good options.
Casper,
This didn't make it any easier for me to choose another class! I guess I'll need one of each! In all reality, it seems like I'll be running short course because they seem ever so slightly more durable with the enclosed wheels. That being said, I'm wondering if I should go stadium because it's so similar to my 2wd buggy or if I should go 4wd or short course so that I can experience something unique from each class. Seems like two similar classes would help me stay more comfortable from race to race. Also, do you feel that stadium or short course is more sensitive to setup changes? Because my setup skills aren't super spot on, a more forgiving platform might be the way to go?
BTW, I'm coming to tq beginner on friday!!! lol

10th Truggy will be the easiest car to control IMO. Back in the day before short course almost all the "rookies" would start with a "truggy" (as OCRC calls them these days) as they are forgiving and fun to drive. SCT is fun as well but IMO require a little more tuning. They are heavier, more body roll and don't produce the traction a truggy will. I understand you comment about being more durable with a full body. They do have more bumpers but the body does not do much to "protect" things. Both TLR vehicles are quite strong and will take punishment. Not going to make the decision for you but I would go truggy (22-T) in your shoes. Having two 2wd cars keeps driving styles more similar as 4wd car will fundamentally drive a little different and going between 2wd and 4wd takes some time to master. Lots of fun classes to race though so can't really go too wrong here.

I am planning to run a B44.3 with a reedy 13.5 motor, what would be a good starting point as far as gearing?

I would "fear" those running 22-4's! LOL
Well,
I intended to run beginner again this week, nobody to run with, got thrown into the real classes with the serious racers. Such a huge difference! It's such a huge gap. I've got an incredible amount of tuning and practice to do. Trying to stay out of everybody's way was the hardest thing to do! Thanks guys for the great racing! See you guys on the clay!

I would have took the lead and then crashed my car and DNF! lol. It's incredibly fun when out of the whole race I had two or three sections of the track where I jumped properly, hit my braking point and apex, then accelerated out of the corner. Addicted. Can't wait until I do that for an entire lap.
