Default Scammed for the first time by Privateer_45

I had never been scammed by anyone here on rctech before, but now my cherry has been popped. I knew I was taking a chance with such a new person with 0 trader rating, but I thought I would take a chance.

Privateer_45 had a new motor for sale and I payed through paypal on Dec 15. About 1 week after I sent the money I still did not have a tracking #. I happen to be talking to my engine guy and he said he had a problem with the same guy. I then went and put a stop on the paypal account and the guy e-mailed me back the same day. He was pis#@ed. He said he had already sent it out and was going to stop the delivery. I took the complaint off of paypal and I am still waiting for a tracking #. Since I took the complaint off of paypal I can no longer place a complaint with paypal. I went to the bank today and filed a complaint with the CC company. I will get my money back.

I will observe the trader ratings for now on.

So patron's be aware.

Wow sorry for the bad experience, at least you sound as if you have it handled and won't be out much more then your time and some confidence in forum buying.

Thanks for posting this I will be sure to add this seller to my ever growing ignore list.

Sad to hear this . It really makes you wonder about the integrity of people these days. Not everybody with no feedback or low feedback is a scammer in the waiting. It just really makes all of us gunshy and quick to judge . Once you open a paypall dispute do not close it untill all is well. And then leave feedback.

never remove the claim. if he stopped shippment OOHHWELL atleast you had your money back. if he did not provide tracking and it's been this long he never shipped it. how much did you spend>?

seen this to many times the seller does not provide tracking or gives the buyer a fake tracking number to buy time to get the money from paypal.

hope you get your money back.

Glad you're getting your money back.

Next time, do not remove the complaint until you get a legit tracking number with updated delivery status.

Ideally, do not remove the complaint at all until you receive the item.

A truly legit seller on this site, one who is honest and trying to be fair, will provide good communication and tracking information without being asked.

And in the event you deal with a legit seller who makes a mistake (we all do) he will happily and quickly remedy the error without any complaining. You'll get an apology and a corrected mistake.

Anyone who treats you otherwise, doesn't deserve your time or money.

If your friend had a problem with him how come your friend didn't leave the proper feedback then you would have seen the issue and not bought the engine, and you haven't left him feedback either so someone else will not see the 2 prior problems with him selling stuff , so you guys by not leaving feedback are part of the problem. The feedback feature is there to warn others.

Agreed!

I learned it from an old SGM when I was a cadet. I know he was quoting an old saying or something like that, but he never told me the source.

It's proven to be true over time, so it's been one I've carried around with me for many years.
