!! TOP 10 RC EXCUSES !!
!!TOP 10 RC EXCUSES !!
From world champ to club race underachiever, we have all pulled at least one of these. ENJOY
#1: THE TRANSMITTER MANEUVER
Said driver makes an embarrassing driving error in practice, proceeds by pulling the car to the side of the track, looks around then down at his or her radio and pretending to adjust something.
This is THE all around classic done at least once by all! Don’t deny it.
#2: THE BACKHANDED TAKEOUT
“ Sorry for getting into you, I was just driving my normal line, Just didn’t realize how good my car is in that section, I could help you get your car better if you want some set-up help”
This may not be as common as number one, but for been done, Low Blow
#3 THE DELOUSINAL ONE
While looking at a time sheet “If I were to take out this crash, that crash, and this slow lap, I would be TQ”!
We are all hypothetically TQ. Stop it.
#4 THE HOT LAP KING
“You may have kicked my butt. But check this out, I got the hot lap on you”!
When given the chance, we all find a positive to getting smoked. How else can an RC racer sleep at night!
#5 THE PIE FACE WINNER
After narrowly winning the A-main, “God my car sucked just now, I think I forgot to sauce my tires or something”
This needs to be stopped as well.
#6 THE EQUIPMENT MANAGER
“If I had his car I would have won too”
Somehow this needs to be explained, First off you do not have his car and you never will, Secondly, even if you did have Bruno’s car, he knows it way better than you, so he would still beat you.
#7 THE GURU
“My Ackermann, roll center, scrub angle, point of instance was just way off”
Lets learn to apply simple things that you can actually translate to the track.
#8 THE NO SHOW
“I beat this guy who did beat that guy who just won that race on RED RC, If I were there I would have won, I’m the champ”!
We have all considered this, but let’s agree take a stand against this on basic principle.
#9 THE TIMELY TESTER
after taking an unforeseen beating at a club race, “I'm Just Testing tonight”
We are all testing, can we stop this too, please.
#10 MARSHAL LAW
“I crashed and the marshal wasn’t looking, I lost so much time”
It happens, get over it, don’t crash.

What people have told me..
My battery went flat
My tyres had no traction
I'm still experimenting with setup
The foams in the tyre went bad
A couple I made up, but they're believable

I use this one.
"I need practice, and race more, racing 4 times a year is not enough"
And I've been saying for the last ........years.

blame the weather
hi guys racing at outdoor tracks also brings a whole new dimension to excuses, my favorites being sun in the eyes or even better gusts of wind unsettling my car, best part of this excuse is the teller doesn't seem to realize that everyone else had that same gust of wind to deal with,. best still are the people walking around cracking jokes all day then at the end of it telling you how they have been feeling under the weather or have a splitting headache when results have gone against them. I myself have never stooped this low but have been guilty of blaming car setup,.. you know the 'I put the diff in with wrong oil viscosity..'
or ' had the wrong springs in...' I know i should be ashamed but we have all done it... haven't we?

I really like #2 - Just golden - so honest and helpful without being arrogant at all. It needs to go in my repertoire.
#2: THE BACKHANDED TAKEOUT
“ Sorry for getting into you, I was just driving my normal line, Just didn’t realize how good my car is in that section, I could help you get your car better if you want some set-up help”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The track hasn't been blamed much yet - Often where I race the track seems to radomnly loose it's grip level - Dusty and dirty [at least on my race lines] - Someone else should have cleaned it...
